This is an exciting opportunity, in Global Specialty IT for an experienced Technology Leader, with a strong background in Software Engineering and Application Support executing within the Agile operating model. This role will be responsible for leading a team of software engineers and vendor partners in ongoing maintenance and support for our Intake, UW and Service Value stream. The role will leverage the candidates’ skills in managing an ever-changing set of priorities, leading the support team to provide a high-quality experience for our Global Specialty employees, assisting with troubleshooting, technical design and oversight while providing guidance to onshore and offshore resources on technical solutions leveraging your knowledge of the Insurance industry. RESPONSIBILITIES Partner with Product Managers/Product Owners, IT Strategy and Software Engineers to execute on our maintenance and support backlog Responsible for operations support for all business applications used in Global Specialty Build a customer focused application support team that provides a key emphasis on providing a high-quality user experience that exceeds customer satisfaction Works closely with the business and IT stakeholders to ensure requests and incidents are prioritized and resolved per service level agreements Drive optimization of service levels and interact directly with business and IT leadership to ensure key SLAs are met Monitoring incidents to identify spikes, trends, and systemic issues in our applications Develops KPIs to measure the success of the Application Maintenance and Support organization Lead resolution of high priority incidents, drives root cause analysis, and identifies preventative measures Ensure high level of communication with stakeholders Collaborate with business and IT partners to proactively mitigate existing technical debt Present transparency about potential risks and business impact to all stake holders Accountable for driving a Software Engineering culture and building a strong team with knowledge spread across the group Accountable for Software Engineering practices that drive code quality, fault tolerance, performance engineering, secure coding practices and quality automation Actively managing the work queue in Rally, managing the merging of code with projects and planning with SM/PMs outside of the value stream for KT hand-offs to the maintenance/enhancement team Responsible for the release planning of the business prioritized requests QUALIFICATIONS Minimum 10 years of hands-on software engineering experience utilizing emerging technologies Minimum 5 years of experience in a technology leadership role Hands-on Agile experience as a Senior Software Engineer, Architect or Engineering Manager Requires excellent communication skills as well as seasoned judgment, tact and the ability to work effectively with client and other managerial personnel Demonstrates strong sense of urgency, ownership and operates in a collaborative manner. Insurance Industry experience is required Preferred experience with Microsoft Stack (.NET, C#, SQL) Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in MIS, Computer Science, Project Management, or related field or equivalent work experience. Candidates must be authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship Remote candidates welcome Compensation The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition.
