Objectives

Incumbent is responsible for assisting the CASA Coordinator with all direct service aspects of the Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) Programs of Delaware and Union Counties. Incumbent reports to the CASA Coordinator. This is a 30-hour-per-week position. It does offer full benefit coverage.

Job Standards

Must have high school diploma; B.A. degree in human services field is preferred. Prior experience as an active CASA and supervisory experience preferred. Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills and must have the ability to work independently. Ability to process data using Microsoft Word and Excel. Work involves moderately complex, relatively standardized tasks, processes and operations following established laws and procedures. Must be available outside of normal business hours and have a valid Ohio Drivers License.

Essential Functions

  • Files all notes, correspondence and required written case reports in a timely manner;
  • Provides program support for Delaware and Union Counties’ CASA Programs as needed and travels between counties to ensure adequate coverage;
  • Attends community functions as a liaison for the CASA Program;
  • Assists with recruiting, screening and interviewing and training of new CASA volunteers;
  • Monitors progress of CASA volunteer cases;
  • Schedules and performs evaluations for CASA volunteers;
  • Assists with entering all computer data information;
  • Maintains positive working relationship with juveniles and families of diverse cultural, racial, religious, and socioeconomic backgrounds;
  • Assists with administrative functions of the program;
  • Provides scheduled and emergency coverage for the CASA Coordinator;
  • Attends hearings and provides recommendations for cases;
  • Provides research and follow-up concerning clients’ needs;
  • Attends meetings, hearings and home visits with CASAs, when necessary;
  • Assigns, forwards paperwork to, and familiarizes CASAs with case;
  • Corresponds with community partners on behalf of the CASA program;
  • Provides monthly supervision of CASA volunteers and ensures that all documentation is filed correctly; and
  • Performs quality assurance reviews to ensure compliance with local, state, and program guidelines.
