BUILDING TRUST: YOUR ROLE

At Harper, the role of Foreman is a critical part of the construction team and is expected to make a positive contribution to putting quality work in place, is a safe manner, while meeting budget and schedule requirements. The Harper Foreman has important responsibilities related to understanding construction plans and specifications, and communicating the expectations with craft workers and trade partners.

Responsibilities and Duties:

• To perform a range of work as required in a variety of construction applications, typically supporting the superintendent on a particular project. The roles and responsibilities of this position vary depending on many factors, including job assignment, project needs, and other considerations.
• Participates in planning and assists with implementing operational decisions.
• Must be able to participate in the following functions while developing and improving knowledge and skills in these critical areas of construction management: 
  • Safety
  • Scheduling
  • Logistics, Staging & Phasing
  • Quality Control
  • Employee and Trade Partner Staffing
• Ability to read and interpret drawings, plans, and specifications, as necessary.
• Coordinate with and communicate to subcontractor representatives in the performance of their work and report to the superintendent regarding any concerns and issues.
• In certain situations, may use tools to perform a variety of carpentry and other construction related tasks, as required.

• Qualifications:
  
  • Minimum 2-3 years field experience
• Must be detail oriented. 

Physical Abilities:

• The Foreman is required to work in a variety of conditions relative to construction jobsite environments and must be able to perform the physical requirements of the job, as assigned.
• Weather and climate conditions will vary throughout the progress of a project and the Foreman must be able to work in these environments.
• Must be able to inspect all ongoing construction activities over the physical site, and through the duration of the assigned project.
• This role requires walking over varied terrain, climbing, stooping, bending and lifting. Lifting requirements vary from minimal loads to heavy; but help is always available with heavier loads.
• Driving a company-owned vehicle may be required to perform the duties of a Foreman. If so, valid state-issued license, a satisfactory motor vehicle record, and safe driving behavior are required; and, must adhere to our Driving and Truck Policy.
