What You'll Be Doing

Our Team in Long Beach, CA is growing and Hargrove is looking to expand our Team of Project Engineers! Primary responsibilites will include but are not limited to:

• Support ongoing projects and TAR's in a particular region or whatever the schedule demands.
• Work with Procurement and Technical Services to obtain equipment and contractor quotes to improve estimate accuracy, timelines and to identify long lead equipment
• Manage outside consulting and engineering firms associated with assigned projects.
• Perform preliminary engineering and design of piping systems for expansion and system upgrade projects including pumps, valves, controls, vessels, storage tanks and associated equipment.
• Develop project scopes, cost estimates, project schedules, and project execution packages.
• Draft PFD’s, layout, preliminary P&ID’s, sketch isometric pipe designs, and develop BOM’s.
• Collaborate with Business Development team to define new projects and evaluate alternative designs.
• Conduct meetings with potential customers to determine how best to meet their needs.
• Ability to sit, stand or walk for long periods of time.

Below is the range that we in good faith believe is the potential compensation for this role at the time of this posting and is only applicable for jobs to be performed in California. The typical base salary range for this position is just one component of Hargrove’s total compensation package for Teammates. Actual compensation will be based on education, experience, skill set, and location.

 Minimum Salary: $104,000 annual

 Maximum Salary: $145,600 annual

This position offers a highly competitive compensation package, including paid time off, health insurance benefits, and matching retirement contributions.

Ideal Background

• Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering from an accredited university is required. 
• 5 years of experience as an engineer in liquid terminal or plant design, construction, operation, and maintenance.
• TWIC required.
• Experience working on scoping development and estimation of projects (and potentially outages) in petrochemical, refinery, power, or industrial gases.
• Outage and field experience.
• Understanding of financial aspects of planning projects and business acumen for cost reviews, that is huge plus.
• Work closely with commercial teams on front end of projects.
• Analytical problems solver and ability to apply engineering principles.
• Must be self-motivated, and able to perform the required and expected duties with minimal direct supervision.
• Ability to coordinate and/or manage concurrent or simulations project or assignments of various objectives, of various sizes, in various locations and with various completion dates.
• Ability to read and effectively communicate orally and in writing in English with coworkers, vendors, customers, contractors and regulatory officials.
• Demonstrated ability to understand and/or develop liquid terminal operating processes and procedures.
• Possess basic project management skills used in the development of project documents such as project scope, schedule, budget forecasting, cost analysis, and risk identification/mitigation.
• Proficient in reading and interpreting engineered drawings, such as P&IDs, piping, isometrics, structural, electrical, etc.
• Proficient in reading and interpreting engineering design and construction standards and specification and operation and maintenance procedures.
