Overview

POSITION SUMMARY:

The IT Network Engineer I is responsible for planning, monitoring, supporting, managing and integrating the enterprise network systems for both IT and Surveillance. Involved in the configuration and maintenance of both the physical and logical network infrastructure. Monitors and manages the network, data information, including technical and administrative analysis, remediates incidents, performs capacity and resource planning, assesses network risks and contingency planning. Responsible for the network areas of the DMZ, WAN, LAN, WLAN and VPN communications. Maintain and monitor firewall infrastructure. The position stages, maintains multiple environments or version of applications, and assists with the integration of new technology into the existing infrastructure required to support the enterprise. Position requires strong problem-solving, analytical and communications skills. The IT Network Engineer’s role is to ensure the stable operation of the in-house computer and surveillance network.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Creates an atmosphere that induces guests to make Hard Rock Northern Indiana their choice for gaming entertainment; responsible for actively building and retaining guest relations and acts as a mentor to team members to provide superior guest service.
  • Works under the direction of the Assistant Director of Property IT.
  • Plans and schedules work to meet assignments from the Assistant Director of Property IT or Director of Property IT who provides guidance.
  • Assess requirements for data, surveillance and voice networks.
  • Lead network installation projects.
  • Establish and maintain backup and defense systems.
  • Troubleshoot network architecture and provide high-level network technical support.
  • Recommend network system fixes and enhancements.
  • Conduct research on network products, services, protocols, and standards in support of network procurement and development efforts.
  • Meets formally or informally with the manager or designated senior staff to discuss status, ask for assistance on intractable problems, and to review accomplishments.
  • Assists the enterprise system, systems assurance, application development, and operations services in developing, implementing, and maintaining the network infrastructure.
  • Analyze, design and develop the network infrastructure and new technology.
  • Maintains a current understanding of strategic product mix and vendor selections.
  • Prepares equipment and documentation for Change Management approval for promotion into the Production environment.
  • Coordinates and ensures the standard implementation of policies, procedures and systems operations with support personnel.
  • Writes and/or maintains up-to-date documentation for network software and operational procedures.
  • Develops hardware configuration plans for network systems.
  • Plans, designs, and coordinates the various components of an enterprise network system.
  • Ensures network equipment and software is meeting the needs of the program areas as defined in the distributed processing plan and modifies the distributed processing plan as required.
  • Evaluates and recommends network software and hardware for the enterprise system.
  • Analyzes and resolves network hardware, software, and communications problems using diagnostic software and/or technical troubleshooting processes.
  • Coordinates with management for the acquisition of and contracting for hardware, software, and information technology services (including maintenance) for the networks.
  • Develops and maintains disaster recovery procedures for the network and network resources.
  • Consults with users and program management conducting information assessments to determine user needs and to define network solutions to meet user requirements.
  • Conducts on-going network system audits to evaluate the utility and efficiency of the system's hardware, software, and communications components and the effectiveness in meeting management information needs.
  • Facilitates and documents guidelines to perform the functions of the job.
  • Assist with the day-to-day operations of the IT department.
  • Adheres to other defined SOPs as required.
  • Responsible for cleaning and sanitizing work and public spaces.
  • Other duties as assigned.

NON-ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Attend seminars when needed.

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND /OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

(Related education and experience may be interchangeable on a year for year basis)

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field, with a CCIE certification a plus. Minimum 3 - 5 years’ experience is required with Cisco IOS, VPN Concentrators, Firewalls, Routers, WLAN (Aruba Networks), Switches, and Load balancers. Project management skills with the ability to present ideas in business-friendly and user-friendly manner. Strong customer service orientation.

TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Proven experience and success with LAN, WAN, WLAN, and WWAN design and implementation.
  • Experience with Network documentation and monitoring tools such as: Visio, Solarwinds, Aruba Airwave, and Wire Shark.
  • Hands-on routing knowledge of network/internet protocols/services such as VPLS, MPLS, T1, GigE, OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, DNS, IPSec, and NAT.
  • Current security certification such as CISSP, CEH, and Security are a plus.
  • Should have knowledge of PCI, PII, HIPAA standards, or other industry standards.
  • Should have experience working with system, firewall, database, application logs.
  • Should have experience monitoring and reporting on system vulnerabilities.
  • Must be experienced in Microsoft Active Directory, security settings, group policies.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: (Licenses, Certifications, Testing, etc.):

  • Must obtain and maintain all licenses / certifications per Federal, State, and Indiana Gaming Commission.
  • Must successfully pass background check.
  • Must successfully pass drug screening.
  • Must be twenty-one (21) years of age.
  • Must be able to work holidays and weekends, as well as flexible shifts with the understanding days off will fluctuate.
  • Proof of authorization/eligibility to work in the United States.
  • Proficient in MS Office Computer applications.
  • Ability to sustain a high level of confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Must be able to address stressful situation with guests with dignity and the utmost tact and politeness.

KNOWLEDGE OF:

  • Knowledge of electronic data transmission principles, LAN networks, routing fundamentals, business applications, DMZ design and troubleshooting techniques is essential.
  • Knowledge of standard cabling technologies such as UTP (Category 3, 5, 5e and 6, 6A), Fiber Optic (single mode, multi-mode), and Coaxial.
  • Good Organizational Skills.
  • Proven experience in server/network architecture and operations.
  • General familiarity with internet standardization processes.
