Description

The Lead Housekeeper performs assigned housekeeping duties within established quality care and service standards. The Lead Housekeeper is considered essential personnel and must be available before, during and after inclement weather or any disaster situation.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES - 

• Clean and service public/common areas and private resident areas in accordance with established health, hygiene, and appearance policies and regulations (including safety and risk management) and in order of priority established by supervisor.
• Follow all housekeeping protocols and procedures, assists the Director of Housekeeping by ensuring all housekeeping staff adhere to protocols and procedures set by the Director.
• Responsible for inspecting resident rooms to ensure they meet the standard for cleanliness.
• Ensure vacant units are cleaned and are move-in ready based on the schedule provided by the Marketing department.
• Ensure housekeepers maintain survey-ready rooms in the Healthcare, Assisted Living and Memory Support Units. Communicate any deficiencies found to the Director of Housekeeping.
• Maintains a regular housekeeping schedule as well as serves as a backup if housekeepers call out or coverage is needed due to a shortage in staff.
• Timely response to Director of Housekeeping when emergent items come up that need attention, outside of daily schedule or tasks. Assigns tasks, as needed, to the appropriate team member based on assignments and/or schedules for that day.
• Maintain equipment and supplies to avoid waste, damage to areas and equipment, and to prevent accidents
• Keep utility rooms clean and organized.
• Attend in-service classes and staff meetings as required.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE -

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent required. 
• At least 2 Years prior experience in housekeeping, prior housekeeping experience in a Long-term care setting preferred. 
• Prior experience with operating computer and office equipment preferred.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES - 

• Ability to read and write, follow written and oral instructions, and communicate effectively in English
• Ability to work with the elderly population in a courteous and friendly manner, demonstrating patience and compassion
• Ability to always perform duties with consideration for resident’s rights and demonstrate integrity and discretion in the care of residents and in handling their health information
• Knowledge of safe and appropriate use of cleaning supplies and equipment
• Knowledge of computer software to include Microsoft Office
