Empowering Abilities is Hiring a Shift Supervisor Near Davenport, IA

This is a full-time position, 6:00am-2:30pm, some weekends and holidays.
Under the direct supervisor of the Program Director, this position has responsibility for the development, training, and implementation of ICF/IDD unit programs in accordance with Empowering Abilities philosophy, policies, and procedures. Providing Direct supervision to assigned staff. 

Duties: 

  • Treats everyone with dignity and respect. 

  • Helps foster and maintain a positive and collaborative work environment. 

  • Performs direct supervision for assigned staff, including Performance Expectation Reviews, Performance Notices, staff development, training and scheduling. 

  • Follows all Empowering Abilities, DIA, and CARF policies and procedures and informs staff of the same. 

  • Works directly with assigned staff and residents as scheduled. 

  • Completes training of direct care staff in programmatic areas. 

  • Knowledgeable of all emergency procedures and ensures staff follow such procedures. 

  • Maintains work area in orderly fashion and ensures other do as well. 

  • Follows all dietary policies and procedures. 

  • Knowledgeable of individuals’ condition, needs, and whereabouts at all times. Gives and receives reports on same. 

  • Conducts activities to assist with staff retention. 

  • Provides programming suggestions to Program Supervisor. 

  • Supervises and instructs on all aspects of active treatment. 

  • Completes corrective action and notifications sections of GER’s. 

  • Provides transportation when needed. 

  • Communicates with all departments in regard to any problems, concerns or questions. 

  • Communicates with Program Supervisors to maintain care for residents. 

  • Ensures safety techniques are followed to prevent injury to individuals served, staff and self.

  • Has knowledge of all unit programs and how they are run and recommends changes as needed. 

  • Attends all trainings, meetings, and committees as necessary. 

  • Provides direct care as needed. 

  • Follows HIPAA and confidentiality policies. 

  • Follows policies and procedures of Empowering Abilities.

Other duties as assigned 

Training and Experience:

  • Possess a current and valid driver’s license and maintain a good driving record. Must provide valid proof of vehicle insurance and driving record annually. 
  • High School diploma or GED 
  • B.A. in human services field, preferred 
  • Minimum of one year supervisory experience and experience in the field of developmental disabilities
