JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Title: Administrator, Office (County)
Department: Commission
Salary: $28,000 - $32,000 annually
Reports to: County Administrator
Supervises: N/A
SUMMARY:
If you are interested in politics or government, this job is a perfect fit for you. You will gain the understanding of governmental procedures within the law and constitution. Some of your responsibilities will be to plan, direct, manage, and oversee the administration of county operations, coordinate assigned activities with other county departments and outside agencies. Administer policies established by the Commission for efficient operation of the county and provide highly responsible and complex administrative support to the Commission in legislative, policy, and other matters.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
While performing the duties of this position, the employee regularly works indoors. The employee may on occasion be exposed to loud sounds and distracting noise levels, such as from office equipment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Prepares the agenda for commission and committee meetings, regular or special and any other regular or special reports as are necessary for the efficient operation of the county government, in accordance with Sunshine Law.
· Facilitate underwriting visits and meetings.
· Manage and submit accurate and timely payroll documents.
· Develop and maintain positive working relations with other local governments and state, federal agencies.
· Acts as the assistant coordinator for the counties purchasing card program and liaison with the State purchasing card program management team.
· Assists in preparing, developing, implementing, and administering all policies and procedures necessary for the purchasing card program to be compliant with industry best practices and other applicable state and federal laws, rules, regulations and county policies and procedures.
· Prepare ordinances, resolutions, or proclamations so that they can be executed, recorded, archived, or distributed.
· Maintain and update documents, such as codes or charters.
· Respond to requests for information from the public, other municipalities, state officials, or state and federal legislative offices.
· Collaborate with other staff to assist in the development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies, or priorities.
· Takes the initiative to propose to the County Commission such actions as will contribute to efficiency, productivity, and overall improvement of County operations.
· Represent county at community events or serve as liaisons on community committees.
· Participates in a variety of financial activities alongside the Finance Director.
· Oversees and pursues grants, awards, and designations for all areas of the county to create funding opportunities.
· Reviews correspondence, reports, news sources or publications, and informs commissioners of ensuing developments and/or problems.
· Negotiates and manages contracts with external parties as needed.
· Performs special projects as assigned by Commissioners.
· Responsible for maintaining and managing the counties workers' compensation program.

· Serve as liaison between departments, external organizations, the public, and other agencies.
· Oversees and manages all county liability insurance policies.
· May assist other departments as needed.
· Perform other duties as assigned.
TECHNICAL SKILLS, GENERAL ABILITIES & KNOWLEDGE:
PHYSICAL ABILITIES:
· Ability to lift or carry objects weighing up to 30 pounds.
· Ability to work around equipment that generates noise, vibration, and heat.

· Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.

· Must pass criminal background check.
