Automotive Shop Foreman

Job Description

The Automotive Service Shop Foreman functions as the highest skill level technician capable of performing diagnostics and repairs in all specialties. Candidates for the Foreman position need to have previously worked as an A Class general service technician. The position requires an individual to create a great work environment where teamwork and camaraderie are your priority. Our foreman is afforded a top compensation package, with more than enough opportunities for everyone. The following are daily responsibilities for the position.

  • Performs work as outlined on repair order with efficiency and accuracy, by dealership and factory standards
  • Diagnoses the cause of any malfunction and performs repair
  • Communicates with Parts Department to obtain needed parts
  • Saves and tags parts of the job if under warranty or if requested by the customer
  • Examines assigned vehicle to determine if further safety or service work is required or recommended
  • Reassigns dispatched repair work where necessary to ensure the highest skilled technicians are assigned appropriately skilled jobs
  • Communicates with the service advisor immediately if additional work is needed, if the work outlined is not needed, or if repairs cannot be completed within the promised time
  • Documents all work performed and recommended on the repair order
  • Road tests vehicles when required or refers to the test technician
  • Inspects and test drives newly delivered vehicles for obvious damage and missing major components and drivability functions
  • Installs optional equipment specified by the customer or dealer
  • Reports machinery defects or malfunctions to the supervisor
  • Ensures that customers' cars are kept clean
  • Notifies the service advisor immediately of anything that has happened to change the appearance or condition of the vehicle
  • Maintains and is accountable for all dealership-owned tools and manuals, returning them to the proper place
  • Other duties may be assigned

  • Participates in manufacturer-sponsored training programs, schools, and events
  • Safely operates all tools and equipment, reporting safety issues immediately
  • Reliability/Attendance is consistent

Must be capable of passing a background check, and drug screening, and possess a clean driving record.
