Annual Salary: $43,825 for CSAC Eligible OT $49,316.80 with CSAC

Schedule: Mon-Friday 8:30am-5:00pm

Since 1971, Hampton-Newport News Community Services Board has provided a comprehensive continuum of high-quality, essential, and community-based services to citizens of the Peninsula who are affected by mental illness, developmental disabilities, and substance use disorders.

HRC offers a unique and specialized program for adults with a long history of dependence on opiates such as prescription pain medications, heroin and morphine. At HRC we provide a comprehensive outpatient treatment and recovery services for individuals who have an opioid use diagnosis using methadone prescribed by a licensed physician. In addition to offering the evidence-based medication, methadone, we provide a continuum of psycho-social services to include counseling, peer support, care coordination and referrals to other social support services.

The Substance Use Disorder Counseor (SUD Counselor), predetermined caseload in an outpatient opioid treatment facility setting which involves the assessment and evaluation of incoming clients, individual, group and family counseling, educational sessions and discharge/aftercare planning for clients with substance use disorder problems. Duties include intake assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, record keeping, drug education, case management, crisis intervention, and discharge planning, referral of appropriate offenders, individual/family/group counseling, educational sessions, and liaison duties between the criminal justice system and substance use disorder treatment agencies.

Requirements:

Bachelor's Degree in Human Services with one (1) year related substance use disorder experience. Must be registered as a Certified Substance Abuse Counselor (CSAC) with the Virginia Board of Counseling or register to receive CSAC Supervision Approval within 60 days of employment. CSAC Supervisor will be provided.

Must be registered with the Board of Counseling to practice as a QMHP-A or register as a QMHP-A trainee within 60 days of employment. Valid driver's license.
