THIS POSTING IS FOR FOUR (4) VACANCIES AND WILL REMAIN OPEN UNTIL ALL POSITIONS ARE FILLED.
THESE POSITIONS ARE PART-TIME.
Under close supervision in the day-to-day operation of recycling centers and collection of recyclables at various County offices and the County jail during all seasons and weather conditions; assists in special recycling and Support Services Department projects.

Tasks
HOUSEHOLD & TIRE RECYCLING CENTERS-
Oversees the day-to-day, including but not limited to: 1) Opens and closes the facility as scheduled; 2) Provides professional and courteous service; 3) Ensures materials are placed in the proper container; 4) Schedules requests for container swaps; 5) Maintains and cleans office, grounds, bins and equipment in compliance with applicable local, state and federal laws and regulations.
RECYCLABLES COLLECTION-
Oversees the day-to-day collection of recyclables from various County offices, the County jail and other locations as assigned, and transporting and unloading at the appropriate recycling plant. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: 1) Operation of a box truck with a lift gate and a pickup truck with a utility trailer; 2) Maintaining collection containers in designated areas; 3) Following a time sensitive schedule; 4) Ensures routine vehicle maintenance and cleaning are performed.
SPECIAL PROJECTS-
Facilitates promotional and educational opportunities through the following but not limited to: County Fair, schools, Recreation Centers, Civic organizations and other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics
Knowledge of state and local traffic laws.
Knowledge of state and federal environmental regulations.
Knowledge of Hamilton County policies and procedures.
Knowledge of recycling opportunities and collection methods.
Skill in reading/understanding and applying federal/state environmental rules and regulations and Hamilton County Regulations, Policies and Procedures.
Skill establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with the public, department staff, other County departments and contractors.
Skill effectively communicating in oral and in written form.
Minimum Qualifications
The equivalent of a High School Diploma and one (1) year of work experience in a direct customer service position. Must possess a valid driver’s license. Must have the ability to drive and maneuver a box truck and a pickup truck with a utility trailer.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Work requires moderate physical effort includes but not limited to intermittent sitting, standing, squatting, use of a ladder or step stool with considerable walking and lifting. Work requires regular lifting and carrying of up to seventy-five (75) pounds.
