Job Summary The job of the Asst. Purchasing Manager is to assist the Purchasing Manager to monitor, direct and measure the performance of all Purchasing personnel; to ensure optimal inventory levels are maintained and inventory is purchased at competitive prices; to deliver consistently high fill-rate ratios and to maintain the Purchasing area. Job Duties Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Assist the Purchasing Manager to support purchasing agents; ensure product is orderedat a competitive price and optimal quantityMonitor inventory levels and turn rates; adjust maximum and minimum inventory levels asneeded to ensure optimal inventory levels, pricing, and profit margins Timely review and analysis of operational reports including the Open Purchase Orderreport, the Return Goods queue, the Back-Order report, and the Suggested Purchase Order Queue Review status of shipped orders and back orders and update ECLIPSE with expected delivery dates Assist with annual physical inventory working along with the purchasing, warehouse, andleadership team Review Job Queues, voice messages, and emails; prioritize daily workload, respond to questions and resolve complaints and miscellaneous problemsBuild relationships with product vendors; negotiate prices, promotions and training sessionsMaintain market awareness of commodity pricing, product demand, new products and regulations affecting building codes and product linesAssist other employees as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Able to analyze sales and procurement data and understand market trends to make thebest purchasing decisions. Possesses excellent verbal communication and negotiation skills. Able to build and maintain a positive working relationship with vendors, customersand co-workers. Energetic, self-motivated and able to work independently. Able to learn and operate (keyboard and mouse) the applicable software system(Eclipse, Mincron) used to create, process and monitor purchase orders, and to producereports for analysis. Read, write, speak and understand English. Add, subtract, multiply, and divide, using whole numbers, common fractions, anddecimals. Education, Training, Experience Bachelor’s Degree 5 years purchasing and inventory control experience, wholesale distributionexperience preferred Knowledge of plumbing supply product lines preferred Use Microsoft Office software (Outlook, Word, Excel) to communicate via email, tomaintain vendor contact files, appointment calendar and to analyze vendor purchasesand sales data
