OVERVIEW OF POSITION:

Plans, coordinates, and directs quality assurance program; ensures quality assembly of products that are consistent with established standards.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THIS POSITION:

Act as a catalyst for change and improvement in performance/quality:

• Act as a catalyst for change and improvement in performance and quality by promoting quality achievement and performance improvement throughout the organization.
• Support site-specific activities and initiatives for both PU and SU.

ISO administration:

• Act as primary liaison for external auditors/auditing of the local quality system in accordance with applicable registration requirements.

Corrective action plans (Internal, Customer, Supplier, and Audit):

• Prepares/completes/secures implementation of preventive and corrective action plans (via root cause) and validation of their effectiveness.
• Lead for any/all applicable quality system training and assists in operational training where able.

Quality auditing (ISO system maintenance, Invasive Process & Product):

• Lead internal auditor supporting formal quality registration, responsible for ensuring the audit cycle is maintained.
• Lead development and execution of annual invasive auditing plan that is directly linked to system and/or product improvement.

Root cause analysis:

• Lead local quality problem solving using appropriate quality tools; and application of appropriate methodology to fix problem to prevent recurrence.

Process Documentation:

• Document Control of updates for local procedures/instructions supporting the local quality system.
• Lead for local product/process validation activities.
• Site responsible for establishment and maintenance of visual quality.
• Lead for establishment and implementation of local Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s).

Continuous improvement:

• Provide support for Lean Manufacturing implementation activities.

Data archiving and analysis:

• Prepare all quality data/documentation to concisely summarize the need for focus on/in applicable areas.

Quality system deployment and maintenance:

• Maintain a working knowledge of government and industry quality assurance standards.
• Ensure compliance with national and international standards.
• Define QA processes and procedures in conjunction with QA operating staff. 
• Work closely with purchasing staff to establish supplier quality performance criteria and monitor supplier performance.
• Supervise the program of supplier audits.
• Development and implementation of standards based on identification of Critical Control Points (CCP’s).

Manufacturing process/product control:

• Interact with Manufacturing/Engineering group to establish critical process control measurements and practices.
• Audit measurement practices to ensure proper execution.
• Manage method of data collection and archiving to support analysis.

New product validation/release:

• Effectively interact with Production and Development teams to maintain product supply and help introduce new products.
• Manage and maintain the Company’s quality inspection and product release programs for incoming and in-process materials and components, processes and finished goods.

KPI generation & reporting:

• Secure local operational objectives (KPI’s) by contributing information and analysis to the development and implementation of local strategic and tactical plans.

Any other duties as assigned.

COMPETENCIES/SPECIFIC EXPERIENCE OR TRAINING - PREFERRED:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. • Preferred – 4 year degree in Business Management or Engineering discipline
• Preferred – 5 to 7 years experience in a manufacturing environment, with at least 3 years at a supervisory level managing hourly employees in a plant environment
• Preferred – ISO Certified Auditor
• Preferred – experience implementing efficient production processes, systems, policies, and practices in a manufacturing environment
• Preferred – Continuous improvement experience (Six Sigma and/or Lean Manufacturing)
• Preferred – Working knowledge of Quality systems, including: TQM, ISO, and JIT
• Preferred – Working experience with the following computer programs: MS Word, MS Excel, MS Access
• Preferred – Demonstrated people and leadership skills, including conflict resolution, problem solving, and performance management
• Preferred – Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work with staff from diverse disciplines and backgrounds
• Preferred – The ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations
• Preferred – The ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
• Preferred – The ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and customers
