H & S Manufacturing is Hiring a Safety Director Near Greenwood, WI

Summary:

The Safety Director works to prevent workplace accidents and promotes health and safety awareness and education to fellow employees. He/she is responsible for making sure that employees follow health and safety laws by creating and implementing policies for a safer work environment. This person shall analyze incident reports, metrics and injury case studies in order to institute changes that lead to a safer environment. He/she shall inspect and verify company compliance with relevant safety regulations, as well as maintain accurate and current records in accordance with guidelines. This person must take measures to identify potential workplace hazards and improve existing conditions by reporting to the Operations Manager and/or Senior Management.

Principle Duties and Areas of Responsibility:

  • Collaborates with management to develop, prepare, and implement safety policies and procedures.
  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local safety laws, regulations, codes, and rules.
  • Ensures completion of required OSHA recordkeeping and reporting.
  • Stops operations and activities that could harm employees or equipment.
  • Has the responsibility to proceed with disciplinary action as needed for unsafe activities that they have observed by ANY H&S employee.
  • Identifies opportunities to minimize workplace injuries, accidents, and health problems.
  • Investigates all near-miss and actual workplace safety incidents, as well as performs root cause analysis for each occurrence.
  • Conducts employee training on applicable safety standards.
  • Reviews safety training and recommends revisions, improvements, and updates.
  • Conducts safety inspections and audits to assess employee compliance with safety regulations.
  • Reviews accident and incident reports.
  • Responsible for environmental and DNR reporting.
  • Send monthly safety reports to the President.
  • Submit monthly/annual DNR/EPA reports.
  • Make sure DNR permit requirements are followed.
  • Monitor waste disposals (ex. universal, scrap, storm water).
  • Travel to both facilities as required to ensure redundant practices are used at both plants if possible.
  • Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean, orderly condition and follows prescribed safety procedures.
  • Adheres to company quality protocols and processes.
  • Perform job duties in an ethical, professional manner which is consistent with the H&S handbook.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Extensive knowledge of current company safety policies and applicable Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to train, influence and motivate team members.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and excel.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm.
  • Proven ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines.

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of OSHA standards.
  • 3-5 years working experience or Occupational Health and Safety Schooling.
  • Ability to recognize when safety conditions need improvement.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks especially when handling an accident or incident.
  • Ability to provide detailed reports and develop safety procedures.
  • Good understanding of data analysis and risk assessment.
  • Extensive attention to detail to distinguish safety hazards.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $55,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
