H&R Block is Hiring a Manager - Technology Near Kansas City, MO

Responsible for developing, planning, and managing implementation of activities related to Incident Management, Change Management, Problem Management, Operations, and IT Service Management for extremely complex programs on-premises and in the Cloud (Hybrid Cloud). Manage and lead a globally diverse and distributed team focused on these deliverables. Lead both the transformation as well as the business change required, while ensuring that day-to-day operations keep functioning flawlessly. Consult with peers, program sponsors, participants, stakeholders, and customers to review program proposals including KPIs, goals, time frames, and funding limitations. Ensure that program goals are accomplished and in line with business objectives. Responsible for managing the program teams, setting goals, tracking and managing performance, and ensuring corporate sponsorship from cross-business unit leadership. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Define the strategy and desired outcomes of assigned program(s) and deliverables that are aligned to the strategic objectives of the business.
  • Ensure 24/7 operations of our cloud and on-premises (hybrid cloud) platform including infrastructure and applications.
  • Define and own the KPIs related to service availability, incident responses and resolution, driving and developing root-cause analysis, develop proactive insights and drive necessary changes to programs.
  • Precise, clear and concise updates and reports on incidents, root-cause, reactive and proactive actions is key
  • Ensuring regulatory compliance for IT Service Management and Change Management processes
  • Drive Change Management and Incident Management capabilities and processes in ways that are DevOps-centric
  • Identify and implement innovative changes to increase efficiency in how we work.
  • Deliver programs on time and on budget with superior quality.
  • Coordinate all activities with, and report regularly to senior leadership/sponsorship teams.
  • Monitor and mitigate project, program, and operational execution risks.
  • Drive Problem Management processes, enterprise backlog and reporting to prevent recurrence of incidents.
  • Work in partnership with business leaders to obtain and commit necessary associate resources at the appropriate time, level, and expertise to support the programs.
  • Ensure all technical procedures are documented and updated and are contributing to the maintenance of operational standards where the automation of the infrastructure services and system administration tasks are critical. Implementation of a strategy to provide rapid feedback and diagnostics in the event of a service disruption is imperative.
  • Relentlessly introduce new ways of improving, optimizing & scaling of the hybrid cloud services
  • Familiarity with IT Service Management tools like BMC Helix.
  • Familiarity with Incident Management, Monitoring and Alerting platforms like Pagerduty
  • Provide oversight to teams of individuals from cross functional teams, as well as vendors to accomplish program outcomes. Manage vendor relationships and ensure their delivery, on time and on budget.
  • Establish appropriate project management tools, processes and procedures for the corporate project management office as well as ensuring compliance with such tools.
  • Manage the program budget, putting in place financial disciplines and ensuring their execution to meet or beat budget.
  • Coach and mentor direct reports, supporting and inspiring their development and career growth objectives.
