H&H is Hiring an Actuarial Analyst (Pension and OPEB) Near Bloomfield, CT

Hooker & Holcombe Inc. is New England’s premier regional retirement consulting firm with 70 plus employees. The AS unit has an immediate need for a full-time Actuarial Analyst who is a College graduate with prior experience in the OPEB and pension field. This opportunity is available as a remote position, requiring limited travel to our Headquarters in Bloomfield, CT.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Prepares annual Pension and OPEB actuarial valuations [with guidance]. This process includes but is not limited to: data reconciliation, asset reconciliation, updating plan features and actuarial assumptions
  • Determines accounting assets and liabilities and completes basic applicable accounting expense reports and disclosures [with guidance] in a timely manner that meets client's expectations.
  • Completes government filings.
  • Completes Pension and OPEB cost estimates for proposed assumption or plan changes when applicable.
  • Provides Pension and OPEB information requested by accountants in connection with plan audits and manages assigned workload
  • May participate in special client or company related projects.

  • Begins to establish trusting client relationships and delivers professional and responsive customer service.
  • Participates effectively on projects as measured by feedback from others.
  • Establishes respectful working relationships with coworkers.

Job requirements:

  • College graduate with evidence of strong analytical skills.
  • 3 to 5 years of prior Pension and/or OPEB experience preferred.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Efficient use of Microsoft products including Word and Excel.
  • Prior experience with Pro Val is a plus but not required.
