The Accounting team is best in class support of our operating business. As part of this team, the Revenue Accountant will support all aspects of the revenue cycle and maintain a complete and accurate general ledger that enables robust financial reporting. 

This role will own revenue accounting for our health insurance business, partnerships and support new revenue streams. We are looking for someone who is excited to scale existing processes and systems to support Gusto’s growth, and partner with Legal, Finance and Business Development.

What it is like to Work with Gusto

Here’s what you’ll do day-to-day:

  • Perform monthly close activities, including the preparation of journal entries, reconciliations, and flux analysis related to revenue accounts
  • Create accounting requirements for cross-functional teams to ensure new revenue streams are properly accounted for 
  • Perform contract review and document revenue accounting treatment relating to new partnerships and products
  • Calculate and maintain ongoing partnerships revenue share agreements
  • Partner with internal teams to ensure success of business partnerships
  • Drive process improvement and scale existing workflows to support growth
  • Support external audit and ad-hoc reporting requirements

Here’s what we're looking for:

  • 5 years of professional experience
  • Mix of public accounting and operational experience 
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Knowledge of US GAAP, particularly ASC 606
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong Excel knowledge
  • Knowledge of SQL or willingness to learn

Bonus points for: 

  • Experience with NetSuite
  • CPA or progress towards one

Our cash compensation amount for this role is targeted at $82,000 - $102,000/year in Denver & most remote locations, and $100,000 - $124,000/year for San Francisco & New York. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including candidate experience and expertise and may vary from the amounts listed above.
