Gurwin Healthcare System is Hiring a Concierge Part-time Near Commack, NY

Gurwin Healthcare System is a full continuum of care providing extraordinary care and caring to the people that we serve. Set on a 34-acre campus in Commack, NY, the Gurwin Healthcare System includes the 460-bed Gurwin Jewish Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, providing short-term rehabilitation and long-term skilled nursing care, memory care, respiratory and ventilator care, palliative and hospice care, social and medical adult day programs, and on-site dialysis and infusion therapy. Sharing the campus is Gurwin’s Assisted Living community (Gurwin Jewish ~ Fay J. Lindner Residences) and our independent living community (Fountaingate Gardens). Our Gurwin Certified and Licensed Home Care Service Agencies have an office in Farmingdale, NY.

Gurwin is renowned for its vision in providing the care the community needs while retaining the personalized touch of a much smaller organization, and our growing family of services offer opportunities to advance your career. We are currently seeking a part-time Concierge. The part-time Concierge will be scheduled 2 days per week. The schedule will have rotating weekends and be one of the following:

Scheduled hours 4:00pm-12:00am with week 1 (Monday/Saturday and week 2 (Sunday/Friday) or

Scheduled hours 8:00am - 4:00pm with week 1 (Monday/Saturday and week 2 (Sunday/Friday)

PRINCIPLE FUNCTION: Responsible for providing high-level concierge services and communication to residents and guests. Directly responsible for greeting all individuals who enter the community in an appropriate, professional, warm manner. The concierge will answer all telephone calls with a cheerful demeanor while providing innovative problem-solving coordination for all requests. Responds to all requests promptly while maintaining a collaborative effort with the team to fulfill all resident or guest needs. In addition, the concierge maintains the community entrance, individual workspace, and surrounding environment in a clean and tidy manner.

Essential Job Functions

ØMaintain a professional manner, attitude, and dress. Maintain a friendly and collaborative demeanor with peers, board members, applicants, guests, residents, and others.

ØCreates a welcoming environment for all parties in the community while greeting each individual formally.

ØRemain calm and courteous under challenging situations while assisting all parties in the community.

ØMaintains the status of each individual entering the community to reinforce security efforts while accurately providing other team members updates.

ØCommunicates all information to interested parties, including inter-office, guests, vendors, or others. Must maintain a discreet manner and approach sensitive or confidential information, directing information to the Executive Director immediately when needed.

ØProvides all guests with a choice of available beverage and coat services upon entry.

ØAble to direct all traffic to the appropriate place or team member in the community.

ØAble to receive marketing calls and walk-ins in a friendly manner while collecting pertinent information for the sales staff. Promptly identify the sales team to provide the call or walk-in to, establishing a seamless transition.

ØAssists all departments with projects in setup, organizing, or clerical needs.

ØAble to self-initiate tasks while openly collaborating with other parties when needed.

ØMaintains the lobby, entrance, and concierge areas in a clean, tidy, and organized manner. Straightens all décor or furniture to maintain a high-level presentation while providing cleaning to specific areas when needed.

ØAble to always provide resident relations, including support with scheduling transportation, reminder calls, staff directory, or problem-solving.

ØAble to work efficiently in all aspects of job duties, including prioritizing assigned work.

ØCommunicate all vital information efficiently, accurately, and promptly to the appropriate party.

ØPerforms other duties as assigned by Community Experience Director, Marketing and Sales Director, Executive Director, or designee.

Educational Requirements/Qualifications

ØHigh School graduate or equivalent; college coursework preferred. Ability to understand and follow instructions while demonstrating the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse population. Experience in a business, hospitality, or senior living work environment preferred. Great attention to detail and customer service is essential.

ØMust possess a valid driver's license.

Specific Requirements

ØComplexityAble to plan and prioritize work duties under the direction of department leaders while self-initiating task processes. High attention to detail for all work production, environment, and presentation. Able to follow complex instructions and maintain high performance in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Must always demonstrate excellent customer service skills. Must demonstrate an ability to maintain tact in difficult and complex situations, including demands from many aspects of the community. Demonstrates competency in following through with tasks efficiently while referring requests to the appropriate individual.

Will be exposed to highly confidential information; must demonstrate confidentiality, and only disclose with the Executive Director or others specifically directed by the Executive Director.

ØSafetyRequires ability to read, understand and follow community emergency procedures and all other safety rules and regulations related to the community or local ordinances.

ØDegree of TravelMinimal local travel. May be required to use community vehicles as needed.

ØWorking ConditionsClean, well-lighted residential and office environment. Varying levels of noise, activity, and possible interruption. Must be able to manage all office equipment and software competently.

Physical Requirements

ØMust be able to sit and stand for long periods.

ØMust be able to use telephone and computer for long periods, up to 90% of work time.

ØMust be able to lift and carry up to 20 pounds.

ØMust be able to push and pull up to 30 pounds.

ØMust be able to stand for varying durations.

ØMust be able to twist, bend, and walk to maintain walkways and surrounding workspace or complete tasks.
