Position Overview

Join the Gulf Stream Council Team as a Program Director. The Program Director helps to build and deliver quality customer experiences at council and district program events and activities, resulting in better Scout retention through quality experiences and ultimately helping contribute to the growth of the Scouting program. The Director will conduct activities and events, manage event budgets, and helps to secure gift-in-kind donations. The Director helps to recruit, train, and oversee volunteers to deliver Scouting programs. The Director acts as the operations officer of the event/activity accepting responsibility for the success or failure of a specific program or event.

Responsibilities

· The Program Director will:

· Recruits, develops, and maintains an effective volunteer management team.

· Serve as the staff advisor to assigned events or activities, including summer camp, winter camp, and other activities.

· Work with volunteers and other community and business leaders to identify, recruit, train, guide, and inspire them to become involved in youth programs.

· Achieve progress towards specific goals and objectives, which include retention markers, volunteer recruitment and training, and program development.

· Achieve net income and participation objectives for assigned camps and activities.

· Be a good role model and recognize the importance of working relationships with other professionals and volunteers.

· Provide quality service through timely communication, regular meetings, training events, and activities.

· Performs other special responsibilities as assigned, based upon the council's needs.

· Have a willingness and ability to devote long and irregular hours to achieve council and district objectives.

Qualifications

· Bachelor's Degree or Qualifying Experience.

· Must be age 21 or older unless prohibited by any applicable law.

· Prior experience in Scouting or other youth organization is desirable.

· Must be a team leader and player; build relationships and communicate effectively with others.

· Proven project management success and skills in community organization.

· Ability to supervise volunteer staff utilizing effective back-dating and work scheduling.

· Thrives in a fast-paced environment with passionate and committed people.

· Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information appropriately.

· Must focus on continuous improvement and growth within the organization and with self.

· A flexible schedule is frequently required for evening/weekend events.

Benefits

Full-time, exempt position with a competitive salary of $42,000 or higher, depending on qualifications. The benefits package includes major medical, dental, vision, Life-insurance and short- and long-term disability, retirement plan with match, generous paid time off, holiday observance, and more.

This position requires flexibility as some weeks will require over 40 hours, and your work schedule is flexible. Frequent travel is required using one's own personal vehicle. Must maintain a valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and motor vehicle insurance. Travel allowance provided.

Pay: $45,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
