Gulf Island is Hiring an Outside Sales Representative Near Houma, LA

Description

Main Purposes

The outside sales representatives close sales through face-to-face interaction with customers based within assigned sales territories. They meet with potential and existing customers to present sales proposals, inform them of product benefits and features, and negotiate prices. 

Essential Functions

  •  Compiles and maintains lists of prospective customers for use as sales lead based on information from business directories, industry ads, trade shows, Internet Web sites, and other sources.
  • Travels throughout assigned territory to call on regular and prospective customers to solicit orders or talk with customers through email and by phone.
  • Quotes prices and credit terms and prepares sales contracts for orders obtained.
  • Estimates date of delivery to the customer, based on knowledge of own company production and delivery schedules.
  • Prepares reports of business transactions and keeps expense accounts. Coordinates customer orientation.
  • Enters new customer data and other sales data for current customers into the computer database. Develops and maintains relationships with purchasing contacts.
  • Investigates and resolve customer problems. 
  • Attends trade shows.

  •  Pushing and Pulling- These physical requirements are essential job functions.
  • Reaching, forward, and reaching overhead: These are essential job functions /physical requirements.
  •  Balancing, fingering, feeling, talking, hearing, and seeing- These are all considered regular physical duties/requirements and would be needed/required to work in this industrial environment safely and efficiently.
  • Lifting - employees must lift 25 pounds and occasionally 50-75 pounds.

Desirable Experience/Training

Four years of related experience and training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Environmental Conditions

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, the risk of electrical shock, the risk of radiation, and the fumes associated with using computers and office machines. The employee is also occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions associated with job-related travel and errands. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
