JOB DESCRIPTION

Summary/Objective

The Data Strategy Manager is responsible for Grunt Style database architecture, data governance and business intelligence.

• Serves as the primary Data team point of contact for all Grunt Style departments, meeting with them regularly to understand and prioritize their data needs
• Identify opportunities to use data to improve performance across the business, either by surfacing insights (i.e., improve decisions) or building tools (i.e., automate a process)
• Prioritize tasks and projects to ensure that the most important needs are addressed first
• Partners with other technology areas to identify and implement data and business intelligence technology solutions
• Create and maintain data models that take raw data sets and transform them into clean, usable output data sets
• Work with various ecommerce software tools (Shopify, Klaviyo, etc.) and our ERP tools to deliver best data solutions for Grunt Style
• Educate and train non-Data team members about how to access, analyze, and visualize data
• Complete ad-hoc analyses for our executive team and other key “clients”

Requirements

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS:

• 3-5 years of experience in an analytical role (data/analytics, consulting, finance, etc.)
• Experience in ecommerce/direct to consumer businesses preferred, but not required
• Ability to understand the data needs of non-technical business leaders across the organization and design and build reporting or develop insights to meet those needs
• Experience analyzing data to draw conclusions or identify insights
• Ability to take vague questions, problems, or goals and identify the specific action(s) needed to answer, solve, or reach them
• Experience using SQL to query and manipulate data is preferred
• Experience working with business intelligence / visualization tools is preferred
• Experience working with cloud data warehouses or data transformation tools is a bonus
• Experience mentoring, coaching, or managing others is a bonus
• Problem solver with a sense of urgency
• Entrepreneurial mindset and ability to take ownership
• Excellent communication skills
• Experience working in consumer products industry highly preferred

This is a desk job that is expected to sit and be on a computer for long periods of time.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time exempt position which may require working outside of office hours. Office hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Travel

Some travel may be required from time to time.
