Financial Controller
Cornelius, NC

Boykin Management Company was founded in 1958 and has a long history as a leader in the areas of hospitality and real estate development. Located in the Greater Charlotte, NC area we are seeking a Financial Controller.

Responsibilities:

As our Financial Controller you will have the expertise in overseeing all accounting and financial operations of multiple businesses entities. This position reports directly to the owner (CEO) and has a career path to a CFO position. You will oversee an Accounting Manager in the execution of the following responsibilities:

  • Manage all aspects of accounting, billing, financial statements, general ledger, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, tax & GAAP compliance, and various special analyses and projects.
  • Prepare annual budgets.
  • Preparation of year-end work papers and trial balances for outside CPA firm.
  • Maintain documented system of accounting policies and operations.
  • Maintain banking and outside CPA firm relationships.
  • Cash management and reporting.
  • Advise on financial analyses and strategic decision-making regarding capital investments, contract negotiations, significant costs, and other financial matters as needed.
  • Collaborate with outside IT consultant on office IT needs and operations.
  • Administration of various insurance programs including two captive insurance companies.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.
  • MBA and/or CPA highly desirable but not required.
  • Ideal candidate will have 5 to 10 years of experience in managing an accounting department including hands on experience performing accounting department responsibilities.
  • Previous experience working in a multi-company environment highly desirable.
  • Previous experiences working in a private, family operated company highly desirable.
  • Previous experience working in real estate, construction, or hospitality industries highly desirable.
  • Advanced technical computer skills and applications.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • This is not a remote work position. Work location will be at our offices located in Cornelius, NC.
