Position Summary

The Concessions Manager manages the terminal concessions for food & beverage, retail, passenger services, vending and the advertising program. Evaluates, develops, and manages all airport concession agreements and ensures compliance with ACDBE rules and regulations and ensures overall contract compliance. The Concessions Manager assists with badging and security clearances, as needed, and collaborates with a team of internal and external stakeholders to maintain optimum concessions customer service and satisfaction.

Responsibilities (Essential Functions)

  • Manages the day-to-day terminal concessions for food & beverage, retail, passenger services, vending and the advertising program.
  • Stays apprised of current trends to develop strategies, opportunities, and respond to requests for information (RFI’s) to determine the best and most appropriate use of property and spaces to maximize revenues and ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Evaluates, develops, and manages all airport concession agreements and ensures compliance with ACDBE rules and overall contract compliance.
  • Prepares and presents reports on concession performance and analyzes sales and revenue trends to ensure the most efficient operations and highest customer satisfaction.
  • Collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to ensure optimum customer service and contract compliance.
  • Maintains the day-to-day relationship between the District and the concession tenants; resolving issues with management, tenants, and customer complaints to ensure excellent operations, service, and sustainable growth.
  • Coordinates with Procurement, Design & Construction, consultants, and other internal and external stakeholders for the design, aesthetics and layout of the Concessions Program.
  • Collaborates with Communications and other District departments to plan events, as necessary, including daily/weekly/monthly/quarterly meetings, training seminars, promotional, marketing, and special events.
  • Assists the Commercial Business department with creating and developing annual budgets for operating and capital expenses, sales/rental analyses and revenue generation and the subsequent monthly reporting.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education

  • Requires a Bachelor's degree in one of the following: airport management, business administration, public administration, real estate, or a related field or equivalent work experience.

Experience

  • At least five (5) years of experience in the practice of concessions or restaurant management.
  • With three (3) years of experience in planning, developing, and implementing a successful airport concessions program, mall concessions program or overseeing restaurant operations for a franchise which includes negotiating and administering revenue-generating contracts.
  • Demonstrated experience, knowledge and understanding of budgeting, retail or food service operations, the administration and management of contracting documents and compliance with policies and procedures.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Proficient in using the latest versions of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Power BI, Publisher, and web searches.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; capability for analytical thinking, and dynamic presentation skills.
  • Detail oriented and able to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strategic and tactical thinker.
  • Skilled in utilizing social media to accomplish business goals.
  • Maintain flexibility to adapt priorities based on changing business needs.
  • A high comfort level working in a fast-paced environment and have the capacity to drive forward key business initiatives while managing the daily workload.

Supervisory Responsibility

  • Departmental staff comprised of 1 FTE position.

Licenses Required

  • Valid Driver’s License.

Certifications Required

  • None required.

Latitude/Independent Judgment/Accuracy

  • Diligence must be exercised when handling confidential information.
  • Responsible for own work but must coordinate with others.
  • Inaccurate work could result in lost revenue and/or increased expenses to the District.

Working Conditions

  • Job is primarily performed in an office setting.
  • Exposed to both normal office environment conditions as well as normal industrial environment conditions.
  • Reasonable care for equipment/process will prevent injury/damage.
  • Typical office environment with frequent sitting, walking, standing, and occasional climbing, stooping, kneeling, pushing, crouching, crawling, and balancing.
  • Must be able to lift up to twenty (20) pounds occasionally and up to ten (10) pounds frequently.
  • Mental and/or Visual Demand - mental and visual demands are high and vary with function performed. Consistent mental attention needed to respond safely and efficiently.
  • Must be able to operate a computer keyboard/mouse.
  • Travel required to locations on and off District premises with occasional overnight trips.
  • On-site and off-site support, as business needs, outside of Monday – Friday normal business hours.

Other Requirements

  • Must be able to complete and pass pre-employment/post offer checks to include, but not limited to, background, drug, references, education, and DMV, as required by the Federal Government, aviation-related authorities, and the District.
  • Must have a reliable motor vehicle to attend meetings, other events, make deliveries, etc. throughout the Greenville-Spartanburg region.
