Summary/Objective Keeps watch over and effectively manages GreenPoint Ag’s network infrastructure.

Essential Functions

• Monitors performance and system logs of network and telephony systems
• Performs scheduled routine maintenance and upgrades of network and telephony systems
• Maintains and enhances current network and documentation
• Installs, configures and maintains organization’s LAN/WAN infrastructure objects, e.g. routers, switches and hubs
• Monitors routers and switches for bandwidth usage and throughput; reports information to team
• Installs, configures, and maintains firewalls, intrusion detection network sensors and VPN
• Proactively researches, analyzes trends and recommends steps towards implementation of optimizing network infrastructure objects
• Reviews existing instructions, guidelines, standards, and policies seeking continuous improvement
• Assists in developing instructions, guidelines, standards and/or policies
• Maintains integrity of the network, server deployment, and security
• Assigns configuration of authentication and authorization of directory services
• Maintains network facilities in individual machines, such as drivers and settings of personal computers as well as printers
• Oversees the collection, understanding, documentation and analysis of application or infrastructure processes that impact the delivery of IT Services to the business
• Leads the design, execution and tracking of system tests to ensure operational readiness before being deployed in a production environment
• Supports production systems by resolving issues as they are reported in person or through the help desk
• Identifies potential gaps and opportunities in the existing solution and provides recommendations to resolve those gaps
• Oversees the completions of project related tasks and assignments to meet project deadlines
• Mentors, guides, and assists in training new or less experienced team members

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or other related field
• 5 years of demonstrated experience with legacy PBX technologies and/or VOIP system support and operations
• 5 years of demonstrated experience in telecommunications wiring, cabling, and general best practices

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Relevant knowledge of data/voice networking principals
• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists; ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule forms
• Working knowledge of, Microsoft Office Suite, including MSWord, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, and other software deemed necessary to perform job duties as stated
• Valid driver’s license; must be able to meet a Motor Vehicle Review in accordance with Company policy
• Ability to communicate with associates and customers

Regular use of the telephone and e-mail for communication is essential. Sitting for extended periods and the use of hands to finger is common. Hearing and vision within normal ranges is helpful for normal conversations, to receive ordinary information and to prepare or inspect documents. No heavy lifting is expected. Lifting/exertion of up to 40 lbs. of force may occasionally be required. While performing the duties of this job, good manual dexterity for the use of common office equipment such as computer terminals, calculator, and copiers is needed. The employee is occasionally required to walk, climb, balance, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl.
