What's this Job All About

The Managing Director will be responsible for developing, implementing and executing the overall strategy for Birmingham. This role will develop, oversee and execute the day to day activities for the market with primary focus on driving growth through new business and strong relationships. Leader will have accountability for market KPI's (Key Performance Indicators), and profitability. Role will ensure alignment of resources in market with those of the overall firm to be "top of mind" in the strategic wealth management segment.

Employ strong client service and consultative selling skills to grow Greenleaf Trust's high net worth / ultra-high net worth wealth management practice in Birmingham. Provide cutting edge wealth management/planning solutions and excellent client service. Firm is fee only with no proprietary products or conflicts of interest.

What You'll Be Doing

Principal Accountabilities:

Set the leadership tone in the Birmingham office. Collaborate with all team members to drive strong new business development and an exceptional client service experience. Ensure sophistication of planning techniques and listening to clients and prospective clients' wants, needs and desires to become "top of mind" in the market.

Leadership and Development

  • Drive growth by directly sourcing new business while upholding and ensuring the maintenance of Greenleaf Trust's mission, vision, core values and culture.
  • Lead and coach exceptional multi-disciplined professional team.
  • Set the leadership tone for the market around culture and emphasis on growth of market in accordance to the strategic plan and direction set by the firm.
  • Provide strong mentoring and coaching for all team members.
  • Ensure alignment of all team member's personal objectives with that of the overall plan for the market.

Purposeful Growth

  • Directly source and close new business by calling on prospects, referral sources and centers of influence to facilitate new business in the areas of personal wealth management, endowment and foundation services, family office and retirement plans.
  • Collaborate with other Greenleaf Trust business development resources in and out of the Birmingham market.
  • Work closely with Wealth Management Advisors, Trust Relationship Officers and Family Office Advisors with a focus on asset management, tax, estate, wealth transfer, business planning and charitable giving among other strategies.
  • Display relentless execution and follow-through on events and other activities to ensure return on event spending.
  • Intentionally represent Greenleaf Trust at community and charitable functions, financial planning or estate planning functions and social events.
  • Develop and maintain a network of attorneys, accountants and other advisors/COI's to facilitate referrals.
  • Actively participate in sales team meetings.
  • Actively collaborate with Marketing and participate in, event-driven marketing activities including planning, execution and post event follow-up.
  • Responsible for all aspects of the Greenleaf Trust business model including Personal Trust, Family Office and Retirement Plan segments within market.
  • Collaborate with HR in recruiting process and sourcing talent for the Birmingham team.

Client Care

  • Ensure team adheres closely to client service standards
  • Work closely with Client Centric Team and Family Office Team members to serve clients.
  • Work effectively and supportively with Operations Division Team members to ensure the smooth opening of new account relationships.
  • Work with Research Team on investment and planning solutions.
  • Assist with seminar content development in areas of expertise.
  • Track client communications in CRM system.
  • Provide appropriate reporting to Executive Director of Development, Executive Leadership Team and/or Trust Committee.
  • All other Duties as assigned

What You'll Need For This Position

MINIMUM EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor's degree and JD,CFP and/or CTFA or equivalent education and experience preferred
  • CFA, and/or CPA beneficial
  • Minimum 15 years' experience in high net worth wealth strategy development and execution, estate planning, trust administration, tax planning or equivalent education and experience
  • Sales experience in a wealth management related field is highly desirable
