GREEN MOUNTAIN TRANSIT (GMT) is Hiring a Custodian Near Burlington, VT
Description and Essential FunctionsFull-time position responsible for the daily cleaning of GMT facilities and all vehicles:
- Cleans inside and outside of buses and other GMT vehicles, as needed
- Cleans and maintains facilities and equipment as directed including outdoor facilities and grounds
- Cleans and maintains bus shelters
- Washes, refuels and performs light maintenance on GMT vehicles
- Performs other duties as assigned
A combination of education and/or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the position. Additional experience, as outlined below, may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
Education and/or Experience: A high school diploma or GED is preferred. The minimum age for all employees in this position is 21. A CDL and clean driving record are preferred.
Essential Job Skills and Abilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Essential duties are performed with or without reasonable accommodations.
Knowledge of basic methods, materials and tools used in bus cleaning. Must be able to work independently, ability to follow oral and written instructions, ability to perform basic non-mechanical repairs on maintenance equipment (lawn mower, snow blower, floor cleaner).
Benefits
- Wage: $15.97-$16.97
- Time Off: 8.67 hours of paid time off accrued per pay period; equivalent to 5 weeks off.
- Health Insurance: 100% paid health care coverage including medical, dental, vision, and prescription. 100% paid premium for Short-Term Disability by GMT. After 10 years of service, 100% paid premium for Long-Term Disability by GMT.
- Savings: GMT offers 457 Retirement Plans. After one year, employees who contribute of 3% will be matched by GMT at 5%. After 10 years, employees who contribute 5% will be matched by GMT at 7%.
- Bonuses: Opportunities for $350 annual Safety Bonus and $250 annual Perfect Attendance Bonus.
- Boot Allowance: Employees will be reimbursed for two pairs of safety footwear per year.
