The IT Manager serves in a leadership role and is responsible for providing direction, coordination, implementation and support of technology across all GREEN school campus locations. The IT Manager will be responsible for planning, purchasing, installing, maintaining and documenting all hardware and software systems. The IT Manager will enable full educational use of technology at all times in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and requirements. This is a hands-on position with responsibilities that range from strategic and long-range planning and implementation of systemwide technology solutions, to providing one-on-one, and group training and support. This position is responsible for understanding how technology supports educational outcomes and also for researching new funding opportunities from local, state and federal resources.
Essential Functions:
· Serves in a leadership role for technology across all Green School campuses including but not limited to: networking, physical and data security, communications and operations management, asset management, hardware and software management, disaster recovery/business continuity planning, documentation and compliance, etc.
· Serves as administrator for all aspects of Green School’s networking: local area network, wide area network, Internet and Intranet connectivity, bandwidth monitoring, Wi-Fi connectivity, filtering, firewall, VPN connectivity, etc.
· Manages procurement, inventory and surplus of technology equipment, software systems and related services for the purpose of ensuring that all technology purchases for goods and/or services are consistent with the GREEN’s technology objectives.
· Communicates with school staff and administrators to determine technology needs and provides guidance and recommendations in the purchase of technology equipment and software.
· Responsible for all end-user account provisioning and de-provisioning; account creation, authentication, authorization, and maintenance.
· Directs the installation of technology hardware, software systems, and tools for the purpose of ensuring the safe, timely and efficient installation of technology equipment and services to meet administrative and curriculum needs.
· Maintains technology equipment and systems (e.g. telephone systems, intercoms, alarms, surveillance cameras, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring that systems are functioning properly and effectively in support of GREEN’s administrative and educational operations.
· Assist in and be extensively involved in all short-term and long-term planning including scheduling, budgeting, and cost/benefit analysis, the total cost of ownership (TCO), and return on investments (ROI) for technology.
· Lead in the development, implementation, documentation, and evaluation of GREEN’s technology policies and plans.
· Continuously research and adhere to best practices in the development of policy, procedures and applications of technology.
· Develop a technology services document for ensuring consistent technology services are provided across all school campuses.
· Develop and maintain a technology Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) manual to ensure proper policies and procedures are followed while providing technology services.
· Work with the Principals and Technology Integrators in the evaluation and selection of instructional software, web-based applications, and online educational resources (OERs).
· Work with the school principals and Technology Integrators to develop and recommend the schools’ technology budget.
· Develop life cycle management plans for replacement, maintenance, and ongoing support of all hardware and software.
· Provides support for the Central Office’s technology needs including printers, hardware, software, Internet, and website.
· Coordinate, document, and oversee all security needs including enterprise anti-virus and SPAM, data security and protection of PII data, and physical access (key fob) access, etc.
· Coordinate, document, and oversee all backup and business continuity planning, execution, and protocols.
· Work with the principals and school-based Technology Integrators to seek and receive state and competitive technology grants for GREEN Charter Schools
· Maintain an inventory of technology hardware and software at each campus.
· Evaluate all telecommunication systems for cost-effective strategies and compliance with all 9-1-1 regulations, including mass calling communication tools for school system
· Researches outside funding opportunities and grants for the purpose of providing additional funding to enhance technology within the schools, particularly E-rate.
· Communicates technology-related activities in a timely manner to all stakeholders.
· Ensures proper onboarding of new staff and make sure they receive proper instruction and appropriate use training.
· Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor and/or school administration.
Desired Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in a field appropriate for this position (Management Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science, Systems Management, Educational Technology, or other equivalent disciplines)
· Minimum 10 years of progressively responsible experience in the development, installation, and maintenance of educational technology hardware and software.
· Strong understanding and experience setting up, configuring, and managing network components
· Excellent troubleshooting skills; ability to determine root causes and implement solutions.
· Demonstrated ability to communicate with and work well with all levels, within and across business units in the organization, specifically working effectively within the culture and processes used in educational organizations.
· Highly organized with strong project management skills, and drive to meet organizational and departmental objectives; ability to manage projects on interrelated timelines.
· Knowledge of classroom technology including SmartBoards, clickers, document cameras, sound systems, projectors, cameras, etc. a strong plus.
· Knowledge of student data systems (i.e. PowerSchool), a strong plus
· Basic understanding of HTML and website development and maintenance required within a Google for Education Domain.
· Proven ability to negotiate and work with vendors and consultants.
PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS: Occasional prolonged and irregular hours; frequent standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, pushing and pulling; occasional lifting up to 50 pounds; prolonged use of computer and repetitive hand motions; work on-call and after hours.
