Role Description
Granger Construction is seeking a VDC Manager to lead these functions on a $1B construction. The VDC Manager is responsible for leveraging virtual design and construction (VDC) approaches for coordination of building systems and planning purposes. The VDC Manager will work under minimal supervision and has latitude in determining objectives and approaches to assignments. They perform complex, significant project-related tasks by providing various VDC/BIM functions for project teams and work closely with groups made up of Mechanical/Electrical/Plumbing (MEP) engineers, designers, and architects.
Responsibilities
Provide direct VDC support for the assigned project. Specific tasks might include (but not be limited to) clash detection, visualization, staging and sequencing, and milestone tracking. Utilize Virtual Reality technology, Drones, and any new technology that will help or be required on the project.
Plan and lead project kick-off meetings with subcontractors and design teams to implement the BIM execution plan.
Collaborate with project teams to develop project goals, maximizing the value of digital design planning.
Schedule and facilitate VDC related project meetings, such as for BIM-enabled trade coordination.
Continually develop personal VDC skills through local and web-enabled learning opportunities and/or company-supported conferences and training courses.
Qualifications
No degree is required but an associate's or bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a BIM-related field is preferred
Possess 3 years of experience in construction management or BIM-related job functions. 5-10 years of experience in computer assisted drafting, design, and VDC/BIM is desired.
Strong working knowledge of Navisworks Manage is required. Working knowledge of Revit and AutoCAD is required. Working knowledge of BIM 360, Glue, Field and other Autodesk products a plus.
Should have general knowledge and familiarity with MEP systems and installations.
Able to read drawings, specifications, building codes, and other technical product and material specifications
Understanding and experience with the preconstruction process
Able to manage time well and balance multiple responsibilities; has a tenacity to accomplish tasks, follow-through and meet deadlines
Ability to work well independently and in a team environment
Ability to communicate and present design and/or construction ideas to a variety of audiences
Understands the Construction industry and maintains knowledge of future trends
Able to provide leadership and coaching to support junior BIM/VDC technicians and engineers.
