Overview

The Maintenance Manager is responsible for the overall plant maintenance for the facility with a primary focus on safe and effective operations. Focus includes building and grounds maintenance, strong support of electrical control systems and PLC processes. Includes responsibility for performing technical & project engineering duties to improve plant manufacturing performance, reduce costs, improve methods, reliability, and environmental responsibility. Coordination of activities with other departments in a manner which results in the production of a quality product.

Candidates working in the plastics packaging industry, including blow and injection molding are highly desired.

Responsibilities

The primary duties of a Maintenance Manager include:

  • Understands, follows and enforces all established safety, health, quality GMP and Company policies, procedures and recognized practices.
  • Participates in plant staff, shift and safety meetings, and conducts regular departmental meetings and departmental training based on needs assessment.
  • Develop new methods and procedures to optimize manufacturing efficiency and reduce operating costs.
  • Lead kaizen events, problem solving, and autonomous maintenance activities
  • Responsible for execution of Plant Computerized Preventive Maintenance Program
  • Responsible for execution of Plant Predictive Maintenance Programs not limited to: Vibration, Oil Analysis, Ultrasonic and Infa Red Inspection
  • Oversees efficient and effective design and execution efforts for plant capital and expense projects, meeting schedule and cost targets.
  • Investigates and diagnoses causes of breakdowns and develop programs and solutions to reduce/eliminate future occurrences.
  • Determines and controls maintenance budget to ensure efficient use of funds and reduce/eliminate repetitive purchases by identifying and eliminating root causes.
  • Responsible for the selection, training and development of shift personnel to attain department goals.
  • Provide site leadership for technical solutions to operational problems including systems optimization, debottlenecking, and troubleshooting
  • Provides site leadership to achieve maximization/optimization of capital assets and site utilization as well as lead safety initiatives in technical areas.
  • Prepares appropriation request for funding documents & manages those projects to completion
  • Lead cross-functional (and cross-plant, when necessary) teams to implement process-related problem-solving initiatives within the plant
  • Identify opportunities to integrate continuous improvement into the day-to-day operations of the site
  • Drives continuous improvement efforts within current process technologies and in development and implementation of new technologies.
  • Maintains overall accountability for management of external technical relationships with contractors, and equipment vendors.
  • Reviews contractor bids; interviews and assigns personnel to specific phases and elements of the project. Through project coordination meetings and other forms of communication, oversees and coordinates the technical aspects of the project

Qualifications

Education and/or Work Experience:

· Bachelor’s Degree and/or related maintenance experience; or equivalent combination of education and related maintenance experience is required.

· Bachelor of Science degree strongly preferred in Industrial, Mechanical, Electrical and Instrumentation Engineering

· 5 years’ experience technical / maintenance supervisory role in a manufacturing environment. Project management and environmental experience required. Plastics experience a plus.

· Continuous Improvement experience using LEAN or Six Sigma concepts preferred.

· SAP experience a plus.

· Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.

Compensation Statement

The expected salary range for the position described in this posting is made in accordance with the legal mandates of certain jurisdictions within the United States. The final agreed-upon compensation is based on individual qualifications and experience.
