Grace Farms Foundation is Hiring a Director of Human Resources Near New Canaan, CT

Duties:

  • Responsible for the administration and operations of all practical and strategic human resource functions including, but not limited to: employee relations, benefits (including retirement savings plans), employee training & professional development, orientation/onboarding programs, timekeeping & payroll processes, compensation review, legal compliance, policy/procedure development, implementation & interpretation, and talent acquisition & retention.
  • Recommends, develops and implements HR processes, policies, programs andsystems that support the development of a high-performance, continuous improvement, accountable team and culture that reflects the vision, mission, and values of the Foundation. All HR initiatives at Grace Farms should strive to foster a positive work environment for all staff that is inclusive, fair, consistent, productive, respectful, safe and healthy.
  • Provides insight, guidance and recommendations to the Foundation's supervisory teams on a wide variety of employee related issues including, but not limited to: performance management, corrective counseling, staffing, training, employee relations, and professional development. Accessible to, and advocates for staff -serving as the link and liaison between management and employees in the process of workplace issue resolution and prevention.
  • Leads the research, development, and drafting of the Foundations employment policies to keep the Foundation current and compliant with workplace legal requirements and best practices. Implements, communicates, monitors and interprets approved policies.
  • Provides guidance and interpretation on the application of existing employment policies to supervisors and employees. Constantly surveys the employment landscape and provides recommendations for new, additional and/or augmented policies to senior management based on new legislation, trends and best practices.
  • Supervises the HR & Operations Administrator in collaboration with the COO. Develops a working knowledge of, and provides oversight to all payroll and benefits functions, processes and systems to ensure backup and redundancy of key business practices.
  • Identifies staffing and recruiting needs, develops and executes best practices for hiring and talent management including diverse talent sources and other details that will support the organization's commitment to being a Diverse, Equitable, and Inclusive workplace.
  • Conducts research and analysis of organization trends including review of reports and metrics from the organization's human resources data sources.
  • Monitors and ensures the organization's compliance with federal, state and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews and modifies policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, recruitment practices, employment law. Applies this knowledge to communicate recommended changes in policy, practice and resources to senior management.
  • Develops and implements departmental budget
  • Performs other professional duties as assigned.

  • Exceptional verbal & written communication skills. Outstanding interpersonal and negotiation skills reflecting a high EQ. Proven ability to effectively manage, mentor, and lead individuals, and possesses the skill set to coach others to do the same.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet tight and sometimes shifting deadlines
  • Demonstrated proven competency in active listening, critical thinking, good judgement and decision making with strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to adapt and pivot to the dynamic needs of the organization and employees to provide new and positive outcomes for the Foundation and its teams.
  • Thorough knowledge of current employment-related laws and regulations and how to apply, implement, document and track them within the workplace
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, timekeeping, payroll and other HRIS and talent management systems and platforms.
  • Experience in strategic planning and administration of robust employee benefit plans including retirement savings plans (401k/403b).
  • Must possess a great sense of humor, empathy, patience, a positive outlook and can-do acumen as a team player.
  • Must have a flexible schedule. GFF is open to the public 6 days a week with staff on site 7 days a week. Must have ability to work some weekends and evenings to interface and support teams on site.
  • Grace Farms Foundation has a mandatory COVID-19 vaccination policy for all employees

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree preferred
  • At least 8 years of well-rounded human resource management experience required and at least 4 of those years in a leadership position..
  • Experience in a non-profit organization a plus.
  • SHRM - CP or SHRM-SCP desirable

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged period of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times

Pay: $130,000 - $145,000 per year, based on experience
