Position: Training Specialist

Department: Operations

Supervisor: Regional Director

FLSA: Non - Exempt

Position Summary:

 The Training Specialist is critical to support the growth of the Goodwill Dallas mission. successful candidate will be passionate about helping employees learn, grow, and advance their skills and knowledge. This role is responsible for supporting the training activities at assigned stores, supports training for new store openings and store operations as needed.

Core Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Provide on-site field support for the Organization’s training activities.
  2. Responsible for preparing materials, conducting meetings and instructional segments as required.
  3. Partner with the Learning and Development team to help define the training requirements for the operations teams.
  4. Mentor, assist and support training to improve technical skills and business acumen capabilities.
  5. Be the subject matter expert for all processes in Donated Goods Retail (DGR), documenting and updating Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) as necessary.
  6. Solicit assistance from others for resolution of training and skill gaps when appropriate.
  7. Generate analytical reports to support continuous improvement.
  8. Submit and present reports during visits, training sessions, field opportunities as needed.
  9. Develop, implement, and sustain the comprehensive hands-on training of employees hired for new store set up which includes training in donation receiving, processing of all merchandise, cash register training, and all policy training in accordance with Organization’s policies and departmental procedures.
  10. Act as a resource/support in the hiring, training and onboarding process of new employees in existing stores, warehouse and donation centers.
  11. Identify process improvements that will drive improved performance.
  12. Attend all meetings and trainings as designated and required.
  13. Participate in special projects and company initiatives as requested.
  14. Other duties as assigned.

Preferred/Required Qualifications:

  1. High school diploma or GED required; college degree preferred.
  2. Prior experience presenting adult learning programs.
  3. Strong attention to detail and the ability to prioritize and organize work.
  4. Critical thinking skills and a proactive approach to problem solving.
  5. Strong analytical skills with the ability to research, organize, and present data.
  6. Manage multiple tasks simultaneously and quickly adapt to changes in work assignments.
  7. Proactively address issues and anticipate need for information.
  8. Ability to thrive in fast-paced, deadline driven work environment.
  9. Must have proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).
  10. Must be 21 years old.
  11. Valid Driver’s License and Car Insurance Verification, required

Physical Requirements:

1. The ability to push, pull and lift up to 50 pounds, or more with assistance.
