Goodwill Industries - Big Bend, Inc. is Hiring an Employment Specialist Near Tallahassee, FL

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Assesses appropriate work environment based on participant’s skills, interests and experience.
  • Develops plan with VR Program Manager of work environment based on review of assessments and medical documentation.
  • Maintains ongoing feedback loop with Goodwill Store Managers and outside employment supervisors regarding the participant’s progress.
  • Build and maintain relationships with community employers.
  • Provide follow up and retention services for Employment Service and Supported Employment referrals in the Vocational Rehabilitation Program.
  • Refers applicants for delivery of services from outside agencies needed.
  • Assesses the need for assistive technology and/or accommodation.
  • Provides initial training and then intermittent monitoring of a developmentally disabled worker at a job site until the worker is able work there on an independent basis.
  • Performs times / production / efficiency measures of non-disabled workers to determine the "competitive standard" for related job tasks.
  • Models the job for the service recipient, using the correct techniques required by the organization.
  • Ensures that employer quality and quantity standards are maintained by fully training the service recipient to perform all aspects of the job, and by actually performing the job until independence is achieved in order to maintain production quotas.
  • Interacts with and instructs individuals with reinforcement for positive behavior; and promotes social integration, worker socialization, proper communication skills, and positive work attitudes.
  • Completes documentation of supported workers performance towards completion of goals, monthly reports to referral/funding source, vocational assessments of service recipients, and incident/accident reports as necessary.
  • Performs follow up contact to Ticket to Work participants.
  • Conducts job clubs and workshops on weekly basis for participants.
  • Provide orientation to new participants including instruction and guidance to motivate participants to gain competitive employment.

  • Continuously learns store procedures and changes.
  • Maintain various records, included but not limited to, attendance records and monthly reports of each student.
  • Actively pursues positive working relationships and good communication with all store managers. Uphold the Goodwill mission and maintain a respectful and professional relationships
