Overview

The Tutor will work with the M.S. 447 Program of Good Shepherd Services to assist program participants with Math and or ELA assignments and other academic enrichment activities.

Reports to: Program Director M.S. 447

Location: 125 East 181st Street, Bronx, New York 10453

Hours: Up To 8 Hours/Week, Non-Exempt (School Year Sept.- June)

Major Duties:

• Tutors will instruct students in small group settings to supplement and enhance traditional in-class Math/ELA instruction. 
• Tutors will prepare lesson plans in accordance with a prepared program curriculum as dictated by the individual needs of each student. 
• Tutors will work daily with two or three groups of up to six students each.
• Tutors will coordinate with the campus-level site coordinator, classroom teachers, school administration, and parents to maximize student achievement.
• Tutors may have additional opportunities to share special interests or talents and work with students in enrichment areas in addition to small group reading instruction.

Qualifications:

• At least two years of college credit towards a Bachelor’s Degree or an Associate’s Degree
• Willingness to serve at a NYC public middle school and commit to working Monday-Friday for approximately up to 8 hours per week through the school year
• All tutors must undergo fingerprinting and criminal background check.
