Overview

The Accounting Analyst reports to a Regional Accounting Manager. They will perform the duties outlined below.

Responsibilities

• Train and mentor new staff accountants
• Fuel Reporting analytics, develop streamlined invoicing, and calculates monthly fuel surcharges
• Weekly analysis of A/R cash postings, bank reconciliation and regularly works with A/R team to correct posting issues
• Inventory Valuation analysis, research, and resolution of variances
• Research and reconcile unvouchered subledger reports
• Research and reconcile price discrepancy balance sheet activity
• Regularly identifies inefficiencies, traces root causes, provides recommendations for improvement
• Prepare and enter journals, ensure proper coding of revenues, expenses, and balance sheet items, including line of business and distribution locations. Responsible for Month End, Quarter End, and Year End journal entries for up to 5 distribution centers.
• Responsible for monthly financial statement preparation and analysis. This includes preparing and analyzing business reports, P&L trend analysis, P&L vs. budget analysis, and detailed expense and revenue account analytics.
• Responsible for timely preparation and reconciliation of multiple distribution center’s balance sheet accounts. Analyzes balances for accuracy and provides appropriate documentation.
• Analyzes weekly profit margin reports for accuracy and adjusts when required.
• Partners with distribution center’s management team. This includes weekly communication regarding inventory adjustments, capital expenditures, weekly expense, and revenue review. Ad hoc reporting provided to distribution centers as needed.
• Performs daily inventory reconciliations, inventory adjustment analysis, and assists with physical inventory counts as needed
• Provides detailed account analytics in preparation of annual budget process
• Recommends and implements process improvements
• Makes recommendations to distribution centers to reduce costs and enhance revenue.

• Provide accounting and analytical support to the accounting department
• Research, track and restore accounting or documentation problems and discrepancies

• Other tasks as directed by Regional Accounting Manager.

• Must be a self-starter and willing to assume ownership of assigned projects and duties
• Able to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks
• Preferred CPA/CMA or equivalent experience
