Summary:
Nisga’a TEK, LLC is seeking an Environmental Compliance Officer for our Aviation Maintenance Services contract located in Fort Benning. The Officer shall monitor implementation of all environmental regulatory requirements, report all environmental noncompliance to the work site leadership, correct all environmental non-compliances, and verify implementation of directed actions to correct identified environmental noncompliance.
Essential Job Functions:
- Facilitate integration of the installation EMS into the Contractor’s operational practices.
- Ensure compliance with installation Sustainability, Pollution Prevention, and recycling programs, and implement improvements or new ideas as possible.
- Ensure proper management of hazardous materials, excess or expired hazardous materials, and waste streams per the Fort Benning Hazardous Waste Management Plan (HWMP), Fort Benning Hazardous Material Control Center (HMCC) Standard Operating Procedures, and the Fort Benning Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWP3).
- Ensure training for all Contractor personnel about installation environmental programs, policies, and procedures, as well as any unit/organizational level procedures necessary to comply with installation policies.
- Ensure proper reporting and recordkeeping.
- Ensure adherence to installation requirements for training or operations in the field.
- Ensure periodic environmental inspections are conducted as required or necessary.
- Advise the ACLC Senior Environmental Compliance Officer (SECO), ACLC Senior Sustainment Officer (SSO) or COR in writing of any environmental problems, issues, potential violations, or legalities.
- Attend special meetings or training sessions that may be coordinated during the year by the Garrison.
- Ensure required documentation is maintained.
- Ensure the Contractor manages hazardous materials and complies with DFAR 252-223-7001.
- Communicate externally through the ACLC SECO, ACLC SSO or COR
Necessary Skills and Knowledge
- Shall have experience managing/administering an environmental compliance program in an aviation and/or maintenance organization
- Experience in implementing an environmental management system.
- Experience must include identifying and evaluating hazardous materials issues and problems; serving as a project manager or team leader for projects and investigations in the areas of hazardous waste, environmental compliance, and conservation; interpreting and providing guidance on regulations; preparing environmental documentation for hazardous waste activities and implementation of an environmental management system
Minimum Qualifications:
- Associate Degree
- Two (2) years’ experience managing/ administering an environmental compliance program in an aviation maintenance organization. One (1) year performing ECO duties
