Summary: 

The Staff Software Engineer will become part of Ground Based Midcourse Defense (GMD) Development and Sustainment Contract (DSC) in support of the Missile Defense Agency. The GMD element, composed of the Ground Systems (GS) and Ground Based Interceptor (GBI) components, is a critical part of our nation’s layered Ballistic Missile Defense System providing the U.S. with the capability to engage and intercept long-range ballistic missiles during midcourse flight. Our Software Engineers push the boundaries of possibilities. We are looking for innovative team members who use solid judgment, think strategically, and bring passion for what we do. This role will be in direct support of GMD product team leadership.

Goldbelt Nighthawk is seeking Staff Software Engineer. 

Essential Job Functions: 

• Support advanced portions of the lifecycle of software development to include requirements definition, integration, and deployment.

• Prioritize and adjust tasks to accomplish project results with limited oversight and direction. Apply "systems thinking" to ensure developed products are scalable, maintainable, and meet end-user needs.

• Work in a team environment collaborate with other professionals to implement designs and solutions.

• The selected candidate should thrive in a fast-paced work environment with high expectations, significantly diverse assignments, collaborative/team settings across all levels. 

Necessary Skills & Knowledge: 

• Experience developing software in object-oriented programming languages such as Java, C , C#, or Ada.

• Strong technical development background with working knowledge of DevSecOps, Test Driven Development, Continuous Integration / Continuous Delivery, and automated testing. 

• Ability and willingness to travel 10% to support business needs.

• Familiarity with Agile software development practices, methodologies and techniques, continuous integration.

• Ability to prioritize and adjust tasks to accomplish project results.

• Experience analyzing complex problems and developing solutions.

• Have experience working on Agile teams in a leadership position across multiple teams. Experience in the use of Atlassian tools.

• Experience with full software lifecycle: specification, design, implementation, integration, debug, and maintenance.

• Experience with JIRA/Confluence.

• Familiarity with a structured process driven software development environment including peer reviews of all work products, using a revision control system, defect tracking and build release practices required.

• Experience with Git products. Experience with applied automated testing techniques including unit and integration testing.

• Experience with the Missile Defense and Sense & Warn based systems.

• Development utilizing a Linux based development environment.

• Knowledge of various scripting languages and tools: Python, MATLAB, etc.

Minimum Qualifications: 

• Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline preferred from an accredited university and 14 years of related experience, or a Master's Degree and 12 years of related experience, or 9 years of experience with a PhD. 

• Applicants must be able to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Government security clearance at the DoD secret level; and a minimum of an interim secret clearance will be required to start. 

Preferred Qualifications: 

• A current active in-scope U.S. Government DoD Top Secret security clearance.
