This role focuses on the Global Payments REST API product offering, enabling new payment and worldwide system access through a single, consistent and easy to use API. The REST API is the mechanism by which Global Payments enables merchants and software partners for our Unified Payments initiatives; offering a complete and seamless customer experience across every channel, location and device. The experience of developers when assessing, understanding and using our API is at the forefront of each decision we make every day. The Technical Business Analyst (API) will work with multiple teams across the Global Payments organization in order to gain a deep understanding of the systems and platforms the API utilizes. At the same time they will seek to simplify this inherent complexity for our customers and partners. This is an exciting role with potential for the right candidate to develop and grow a critical offering within the Global Payments Product organization. Duties & Responsibilities Design the API in line with the existing standards. Work to define and evolve those standards in line with business needs and new methodologies. Work with teams across the organization to gain a deep understanding of the systems and platforms the API utilizes. Analyze and communicate concisely Collaborate with software development teams, delivery leads and other analysts to understand, prioritize and build API solutions and features Validate the API to ensure it is of the highest standard and consistent with our developer experience vision. Maintain and drive others to produce key product information including but not limited to API capabilities, data management, process flows, issues and risks encountered. Ensure the Global Payments Developer Portal is up to date with the latest API information, documentation, solutions and features. Communicate the value of the API by producing market facing documentation and supporting sales and customer success teams in evangelizing the features and benefits of the API Competencies Knowledge REST APIs and SOAP web services Specifications such as OpenAPI Specification (OAS) and RAML Design and testing tools such as Postman, Swagger and Stoplight API governance; ensuring re-usability through disciplined design standards Version control systems and tools; Git and GitHub is a plus Programming languages such as JavaScript, Java, C# and PHP is a plus Skills Designing APIs to support digital capabilities across multiple systems Creating flow diagrams to clearly communicate processes and outcomes Data management, requirements gathering, analysis and clarification Data quality review, definition of validation rules and exception handling Abilities & Behaviors The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate strong aptitude in the following areas: Problem solving and attention to detail Communication and presentation skills Analytical, interpretive and organizational abilities Relationship management and interpersonal skills Confident and decisive decision making Customer focussed and oriented Qualifications & Experience A minimum of 3 years experience as a Business Analyst in a digital business A bachelor’s degree from college or university Established technical aptitude working directly with APIs in a relevant field or business Proven track record working with software development teams and other stakeholders to communicate, deliver products and validate outputs Established communication skills with peers and senior stakeholders Payments industry experience is a plus Career Path Business Analysts may choose to specialize in the more technical aspects of the role and business, moving into software development or delivery / scrum master roles.
