Global Empire is Hiring a Physical Therapy Assistant Near Coleman, FL

Global Healthcare Group is looking for a Physical Therapy Assistant to provide services to individuals who are under the custody and care of the Federal Bureau of Prisons within a secure correctional environment, located at the FCC Coleman, FL 33521.
Available Position: Physical Therapy Assistant
Place of Performance: Health Services Department at FCC Coleman, located at 846 N.E. 54th Terrace Coleman, Florida 33521.
Work Schedule: The contractor will normally work Monday through Friday (except Federal holidays), between the hours of 8:00 a.m. - 3:30 with a 30-minute unpaid lunch period. A session will equal one (1) hour. The Physical Therapy Assistant schedule will be an estimated 35 hours per week. Occasionally, the contractor may be requested to work a special schedule when needed. The actual hours of work will be determined by the Health Services Administrator (HSA)
Description of Duties
The contractor will work directly with inmates, and inmates will be in the work areas as orderlies. Training will be provided for contractors in a correctional setting. The contractors shall be responsible for:
1. Physical Therapy Assistant, also known as PTA, work under close supervision and direction of Physical Therapist, along with other Physical Therapy aides and PTA. Together, they help restore patients’ ability to move and perform their full range of motion.
2. Work with injured inmates/patients, to strengthen their muscle groups back to normal strength, endurance, and mobility. As treat patients suffering from neurological, orthopedic, and medical-surgical disorders.
3. PTA spend most of their time consulting one-on-one with inmates/patients, examining each one individually, determining the stretches and exercises to get them back to shape and actively checking on their progress.
4. PTA will treat male inmates/patients of all ages, care levels and backgrounds. Although people seek physical therapy for different reasons, most patients are usually individuals who have experienced an injury, disease, disorder, or any other condition that has affected their health status and normal physical functioning. These patients will be seen by referral by BOP Physicians.
5. PTA may help with the following interventions: Exercise Therapy: PTA create and execute therapy programs leveraging exercises to build strength, coordination, mobility, endurance, and balance. Transfer Training: A skill taught to patients who need help transferring from a wheelchair to the bed for example. Gait Training: Re-teaching patients to walk after they lose their ability to do so. Modalities: A PTA may use physical agents such as cold/hot temperatures and electricity applied to muscles to relieve pain and increase mobility. Wound Care: If a patient has open burn wounds or other open wounds then a PTA may apply dressings, if necessary, at the end of the session.
1. FCC Coleman has amputees: Physical Therapy Assistant will play an essential role in rehabilitating amputees. They help them transition back into their daily lives using prosthetic devices. PTA will be required to carefully create training plans that will ensure that the patients learn how to make the most of the prosthetic devices to make their functioning as natural as possible.
2. While it’s the responsibility of a Physical Therapist to create a treatment plan, PTA are expected to be actively involved in suggesting modifications and better alternatives for rehabilitation, based on a patient’s progress.
3. Computer Skills – Utilizes a personal computer with word medical documentation system, spreadsheet, and related software to effectively complete a variety of clinical and documentation tasks with reasonable speed and accuracy.
4. Maintain daily communication with Health Services Medical Officers, Administrators, and other Multidisciplinary Team members.
5. Other duties related as per BOP current or future guidelines.
Attire
The contractors are expected to wear professional clothing while on duty. The attire worn shall also be appropriate for the correctional environment in which the contract employee will be performing. No green and no khaki colors allowed.
Education and Experience
The Physical Therapy Assistant shall possess at least an Associate’s Degree from a Physical Therapy Assistant Program that is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE) and 2 years of relevant experience in the field within a Physical Therapy Healthcare or government agency.
The Physical Therapist Assistant must be licensed by their state to practice (Florida or one of the 50 states or territories).
Health Requirement
The contractor shall ensure the Physical Therapy Assistant will be able to operate in a correctional setting and lift at least 50 pounds (Moving, lifting, or transferring of patients may involve lifting of up to 125 pounds, ability to stand for extended periods and fine motor skills).
