Glenn Medical Center is Hiring a Laboratory Manager Near Willows, CA

Glenn Medical Center is a Critical Access Hospital located in Willows CA, in partnership with our physicians, will consistently strive to provide accessible, high quality care within the local community. Our focus is on improving the health and well-being of all individuals by offering inpatient, outpatient and rural health clinic services to the Glenn County community.

DESCRIPTION OF POSITION

This job description is a record of the essential functions of the listed job. POSITION SUMMARY

The Laboratory Manager is responsible for the overall operations and administration of the laboratory, including the employment of competent qualified personnel. The Laboratory Manager is responsible for and must ensure that all the duties are properly performed and applicable CLIA regulations are met. It is the Lab Managers responsibility to ensure that the laboratory develops and uses quality system approach to laboratory testing that provides accurate and reliable patient test results.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

California State Department of Health Services Lab Field Services Clinical Laboratory Technologist or Bioanalyst License. Minimum B.S. degree in biological sciences or related science. Minimum three years of clinical laboratory work. Experienced in hematology, chemistry, serology, microbiology, and urinalysis. Knowledge and training in transfusion services and coagulation studies. Must possess management and computer skills as well as lab compliance issue per CLIA 88 standards.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Positions-specific standards:
1. Keeps records for the laboratory administration, personnel, and technical activity.

2. Works directly with the pathologist, medical staff, and hospital administration to provide needed laboratory services.

3. Performs specimen collection and processing in an accurate and timely manner.

4. Performs phlebotomy procedures when required.

5. Adept at venipuncture/finger stick.

6. Prepares samples for daily workload and for reference lab.

7. Reads and records temperatures of various instruments, refrigerators, and incubators according to schedule.

8. Helps with daily inventory and replenishment of blood bank.

9. Inventories and requests supplies and reagents for ordering.

10. Performs and records quality control data in all departments according to schedule. Submits data monthly to QAP programs and monitors Quality Control for shifts and trends.

11. Ensures all Proficiency samples are analyzed and submitted according to schedule.

12. Ensures all Monthly Quality Assurance measures are completed and submitted to Medical Director for review.

13. Assists with selection and validation of all new test procedures and ensures staff are properly trained. Validations and training must be documented.

14. Reviews employee timecards and enters any corrections submitted via Time Clock Exception Request.

15. Is Adept in the procedures involved with charges, charts, logging tests or patients in and out, mailing specimens, receiving reports, and other duties of clerical nature.

16. Responsible for any other duties assigned by the Directory of Laboratory Services and/or Medical Director.
