What will be your daily pursuit?

THIS IS A GROWTH-ORIENTED, FULL-TIME, BENEFITTED ROLE THAT IS BASED IN COLUMBIA FALLS, MONTANA NEAR GLACIER NATIONAL PARK. RELOCATION BENEFITS POTENTIALLY AVAILABLE TO STRONG CANDIDATES. 

LEGAL ABILITY TO WORK IN THE U.S. IS REQUIRED. THIS CAN BE A HYBRID WORK SCEHDULE, BUT IS NOT A 100% REMOTE ROLE. 

In this newly-created role, the Finance Manager will be as a key member of a strong and extremely collaborative Pursuit Finance & Accounting Team. Reporting to the Denver-based Sr. Director of Financial Planning & Analysis, the Finance Manager will be responsible for day-to-day financial management of Pursuit’s Pacific Northwest region, including the Glacier Park Collection and the Alaska Collection. As such, the Finance Manager’s primary business customers include: 

  • Chief Operating Officer, Pursuit Pacific Northwest 
  • Vice President of Operations – Glacier Park Collection 
  • Vice President of Operations – Alaska Collection 
  • Pursuit Finance & Accounting Leadership 
  • Operational teams in Montana and Alaska 

The Finance Manager will be the operating leaders’ “right-hand person” in all aspects of day-to-day financial management, including P&L responsibility for a variety of attractions, lodging properties, food and beverage outlets, retail stores and sightseeing tours in Montana and Alaska. In this capacity, the Manager will take an extremely active role in managing achievement of EBITDA targets, diligent expense management of operating and capital budgets, underwriting growth capital initiatives, providing input into Pursuit’s consolidated long-range financial plan, and integrating new hospitality experiences into the portfolio. He or she will liaise daily with Operations, the Denver-based Finance & Accounting leadership team as well as with members of cross-functional support services teams, including Revenue Maximization, Sales, Marketing, People & Culture, and Information Technology.

Wage Range: $90,000-120,000 USD 

What will you do in this job?

  • Lead assembly of the annual operating plan and annual capital plan for Pursuit’s Glacier Park Collection and Alaska Collection, working closely with Finance and Operations leadership 
  • Drive the monthly reforecasting process with a strong focus on forecast accuracy while avoiding surprises and unplanned variances 
  • Provide strong support for the month-end close process, partnering with accounting, payroll and business operators across geographies and business segments 
  • Underwrite proposed growth capital investments, including development of qualitative and quantitative business cases, return on investment analysis and present investment proposals to internal stakeholders for consideration and approval 
  • Provide thoughtful and insightful ad hoc analysis to the business on an as-needed basis to address a variety of timely and impactful business challenges as they arise 
  • Maintain the long-range financial plan for Alaska and Montana as well as a robust multi-year outlook for maintenance capital needs by property 
  • Take a leadership role in the integration of new businesses and/or hospitality experiences as part of Pursuit’s Refresh Build Buy growth strategy 

What skills and experience do you need for this job?

KEY SKILLS FOR SUCCESS 

  • Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in finance or accounting 
  • Experience overseeing a wide array of departmental P&Ls, both revenue and cost centers, with frequent direct interaction with the business owners of each 
  • Ability to accurately execute planning, budgeting, and forecasting activities at both a macro level and at a granular account-level detail
  • Familiarity with the assembly of qualitative and quantitative business cases to support investment in new initiatives and guest-facing experiences 
  • Ability to communicate financial results, projections, variances and plans effectively in both Excel and PowerPoint 
  • Experience working in close collaboration with accounting on the month-end close cycle, researching and diagnosing root causes of variances, identifying required reclasses and corrective entries where appropriate

Travel between Denver, Alaska, Montana or to other Pursuit geographies will be required. At times, the nature of this position may require work to be performed at nonstandard hours and weekends.
