Giles Nissan Lafayette is Hiring a Human Resource Assistant Near Lafayette, LA

WHAT IS GOING ON?
Michelle Accurso is getting a promotion, that is what is going on! One of our goals for the new year is to create an in-house marketing department and our talented HR Assistant, Michelle, is going to give it a shot. That leaves a big opportunity for someone to take her place as a versatile Human Resources Assistant that can help with all things HR. This includes working closely with our HR Manager and Talent Manager with employee acquisition, running payroll, and HR administrative duties.

WHAT DO YOU GET?

  • Money of course:  This role will probably entail more than the title "assistant" implies and you will be paid accordingly. We look forward to reviewing your qualifications.
  • Training: Michelle has done a great job defining the role and will be available to help you get started. However, there is still a lot to develop and you will have a room to shape your own work flow. So even if you are just starting out in your HR journey, or have minimal experience we want to hear from you.

WHAT ARE WE SEARCHING FOR?

In the meantime, we are looking for someone that takes pride in their work that loves meeting and talking to people. We are looking for a hybrid of an easy-going, empathic, people-person mixed with a high level of administration talent. This person will be meeting and, in some cases, interviewing new employees, but also have days sitting in front of spreadsheets and payroll. Like an extroverted introvert? Is that a real thing? If you just smiled, you are probably the person we are looking for.

WHAT IS REQUIRED?

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources or related field and/or equivalent experience would be great but not required
  • Some related experience is preferred
  • SHRM-CP credential preferred
  • Don’t have ANY of that but, you are a hard worker that isn’t scared away by complicated excel spread sheets and administrative work? Apply!

Skills:

  • Proficient with or the ability to quickly learn payroll management, human resource information system (HRIS), and similar computer applications. We will bring the education, but you need to bring a strong sense of computer and process administration skills. Without that, this probably will not work out. It’s not you, it’s us. But we can still be friends.
  • Microsoft Excel proficiency. Like, vlookup and pivot tables proficient. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent outgoing interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Working understanding of human resource principles, practices, and procedures
  • Ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment

WHAT DO YOU DO?
As the HR Assistant, you would aid with and facilitate the human resource processes at all of our business locations. Here is a quick rundown of a few tasks you can look forward to.

  • Maintains accurate and up-to-date human resource files, records, and documentation.
  • Manages and coordinates our Payroll. Managing payroll functions including processing, answering employee questions, fixing processing errors, and distributing checks.
  • Processes required documents through payroll and insurance providers to ensure accurate record-keeping and proper deductions.
  • Assists with recruitment and interview process.
  • Posting job ads, candidate call screening, and working with managers to schedule interviews
  • Submits online investigation requests and assists with new-employee background checks.
  • Answers frequently asked questions from applicants and employees relative to standard policies, benefits, hiring processes, etc.
  • Maintains the integrity and confidentiality of human resource files and records.
  • Performs periodic audits of HR files and records to ensure that all required documents are collected and filed appropriately. This will be easy because our HR Manager hates paper.
  • Provides clerical support to the HR department.
  • Conducts and assists with new hire orientation.
  • Assists with planning and execution of special events such as benefits enrollment, organization-wide meetings, employee recognition events, holiday parties, and retirement celebrations.
  • Administers health and welfare plans, including enrollments, changes, and terminations.
  • Completes Forms I-9, verifies I-9 documentation and maintains I-9 files.
  • Reconciles benefits statements.
  • Assists with processing of terminations.
  • Assists with the preparation of the performance review process.
