Job Description

Overview

The Operations Manager is responsible to organize and oversee the daily operations of the Business Unit or Division.

Responsibilities

1. Monitor overall performance of projects cradle to grave, including: 

  • Implement and drive risk management strategies, track status and see through to resolution 
  • Develop mitigation plans when needed 
  • Oversee claims and litigation 
  • Implement effective project review process 
  • Ensure Risk Assessment Forms are updated by PX's quarterly 
  • Lead by example as PX (pending needs and scale of business) 
  • Serve as PX when necessary on challenging projects 
  • Enlist support as necessary to ensure success of operations within the Business Unit or Division 
  • Ensure that Gilbane's operational policies, including playbooks, are consistently followed on all projects 

2. Control and administer the "people resources" including: 

  • Recruiting and hiring 
  • Long and short-range staff planning of assignments and transfers 
  • Managing Recoveries 
  • Mentoring, coaching and developing all employees, including career development for emerging leaders 
  • Proactively manage performance/terminations 
  • Ensure that employees complete required training on time 
  • Ensure that the appraisal process is completed on time and that managers are having meaningful development conversations 
  • Review and recommend appropriate compensation and incentive payouts for STI and PPI 

3. Model efforts for Gilbane Cares, Inclusion & Diversity and Gilbane Core Values:

  • Responsible for Project Execution of Safety Requirements in collaboration with Safety Director/PX 
  • Demonstrate leadership in supporting company ERGs (Employee Resource Groups) 

4. Additional responsibilities include the following:

  • Understand local competitive landscape, including knowing the competition and having a strategic sense of how to position Gilbane 
  • Participate in pre/post award activities including go-no-go" process, kick off meetings, fee-pro reviews, contract reviews, GMP development, contract negotiations 
  • Participate in Peer Group of Operations Managers within Gilbane to improve operations as necessary 
  • Engage in construction community to understand "best practices" and introduce to Gilbane for continuous?improvement

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION

  • BS or MS degree in Engineering or Construction Management preferred 
  • 15 years of experience managing operations on projects 200M or more in value
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience
