Overview

Assists the CFO in the planning, directing and evaluating of the financial and accounting operations of the Division including budgeting and forecasting, developing policies and procedures, and ensuring internal controls are in place at Gila River Health Care (GRHC). Collaborates with key leaders of GRHC to evaluate and drive successful implementation of new projects and initiatives from a financial perspective.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and evaluate operational and financial policies, practices, and procedures that adhere to GRHC’s objectives, goals and financial regulations and standards.
• Ensures adherence to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) for all financial activity and reporting
• Assists the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) in the determination of budget assumptions and collaborates with Division and Department Leaders to ensure budgets are comprehensive, taking into consideration clinical service lines, outcomes and Also considers other operational areas that may be impacted by new initiatives or regulations.
• Ensures ongoing monitoring and review of operational performance metrics against approved Prepare financial and analytical reports on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis for CFO review.
• Collaborates with Division Department leaders to develop performance metrics and evaluate new initiatives and service lines prior to implementation.
• Supervises work of CFO Division leaders and ensures timely completion of deliverables especially for budgets and financial reporting and internal and external audits.
• Provides oversight of grant reporting and ensures compliance to state, tribal and federal guidelines in the preparation of reports for awards.
• Notifies executive management of all significant issues affecting clients/Community and takes all steps necessary to ensure full resolution of such issues.
• Assists with special projects and ad-hoc requests such as Indirect Cost Reporting, and Medicare Cost
• Participates in interview, selection, hire and evaluation of CFO Division
• Collaborates with Division department leaders to identify areas that could benefit from ongoing process improvement by utilizing clinical and financial outcome measures
• Acts in the absence of the Chief Financial Officer
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Masters of Business, Management, or Healthcare Administration from an accredited is highly preferred. 
• Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant (active licensure)
• At least eight years of experience in a health care system; 5 years in a management role
