JOB DESCRIPTION


TITLE:
Low Voltage Technician DATE: 10 November 2021

REPORTS TO: Electrical Supervisor DEPT: Production

SUMMARY OF DUTIES: Primary duty is to install low voltage electrical systems and test/repair as necessary before delivery to customer.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
(95%)

  • Analyze blue prints, schematics, and drawings of electrical systems for the purpose of determining the wiring

And efficient installation of new or upgraded systems

  • Run cable as required
  • Bend conduit pipe as required
  • Install electrical system components (e.g. lighting, alarms, electrical panels, switches, circuits, timers, etc.)
  • Complete projects efficiently and on time
  • Test function of all electrical components to ensure working as specified under normal operating conditions, using

Measuring instruments

  • Diagnose causes of electrical problems or failures for the purpose of identifying equipment and/or systems repair
  • correct any functional deviations and re-test
  • Knowledge of CAT 6
  • Ability to terminate wires

OTHER DUTIES: (5%)

  • Other reasonably-related duties

QUALIFICATIONS:


Education
: High School Education; Technical school degree (2-year) or equivalent training

Experience/Knowledge: Familiar with reading and understanding electrical schematics. HVAC control wiring , Knowledge of electrical principles and theory; use of electrical measuring instruments; 2-4 years relevant experience depending on level of job functions; high voltage knowledge a plus but not necessary.

Abilities/Skills:

  • Professional manner
  • Active Driver’s License helpful
  • willing to travel globally (could be up to 30 %); must have or be able to obtain a valid U.S. passport
  • Ability to operate basic hand and power tools as well as a hand jack
  • Physical abilities: hearing; seeing; lifting, pushing and pulling between 50-75 pounds; crouching; bending;

twisting; kneeling; squatting; crawling; walking; standing for long periods; reaching in all directions; balancing;

holding, grasping and manipulating very small objects; hand/eye coordination; use safety ladder; climbing; lay on

a mechanic’s creeper and move about while performing tasks with tools; tolerate varying ranges of temperature in

a Shop environment.

  • Basic reading and comprehension skills; ability to write legibly
  • Ability to understand and follow instructions
  • Detail and quality-results oriented
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints
  • Ability to use and read measuring instruments accurately
  • Awareness of general safety principles in a Shop environment
  • Reliable transportation to work
  • Ability to complete tasks working with others and independently
  • Work overtime as required


SUPERVISION REQUIRED:
Medium – Ability to work independently or with others to complete tasks on schedule.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None
