Who you are:

As a Lead Product Designer, you will be responsible for designing the architecture of the Geotab ecosystem, including customers, entities, software platforms, and physical touchpoints. You must be a strong team player with the ability to engage with all levels of the organization. You should have a passion for product design, a strong understanding of user experience as you will be the go-to person for design structure and decision-making. You will work closely with senior executives and coordinate across multiple teams to achieve a common goal. You will act as the main technical leader in the department and lead projects and initiatives, but not directly managing people.

What you'll do:

The Lead Product Designer will contribute to the product roadmap, lead design efforts, coach other designers, and facilitate product and design conversations with senior leadership. You will also lead conversations with internal and external stakeholders, providing recommendations and insights, and connecting insights from different areas. To be effective in this role, you must understand the foundational principles of design and think systematically about the impact of your work. This is an opportunity for you to build and architect a complex system.

How you'll make an impact:

• Accountable for the vision, roadmap, successful delivery and quality of design in cross platform initiatives from start to finish.
• Work closely with data scientists and user experience researchers to identify and plan the best methods and tools based on objectives and constraints.
• Synthesize data for data-informed product and design decision making; informing and identifying new product and feature opportunities.
• Help build a high-functioning design team and culture; contributing to hiring processes, providing thoughtful feedback in design critiques, identifying internal and external opportunities to level up design at Geotab.
• Strong advocate for best practices and solutions within design, ensuring craft excellence through coaching and reviews.
• Meet regularly with other designers on the team to review and guide delivery.
• Build relationships with cross-functional partners to define strategic direction, planning roadmaps and synthesizing feedback to ensure team success. Connects insights from one product area to another.

• 10 years of relevant industry experience.
• Deep knowledge of product design, including common interaction patterns used and associated trade-offs, and best practices for responsive web applications.
• Experience collaborating closely with product management, engineering, and research.
• Proficiency in UI design and using tools like Figma, Sketch, InVision, Principle, etc.
• Ability to oversee all aspects of the user-centered design process from conception to completion. Has experience in both research and design but leans more towards design.
• Ability to facilitate and support development of high-level design strategy and vision.

• Communicate complex ideas, goals, and problems in a way that is accessible even to those unfamiliar with the project. 

• Entrepreneurial mindset and comfortable in a flat organization.
