Department Information

The J. Whitney Bunting College of Business and Technology at Georgia College & State University, with programs of study accredited by AACSB and ABET, invites applications for the position of Assistant/Associate/Full Professor of Finance. Candidates with terminal degrees and a disciplinary background in Finance are encouraged to apply. Candidates who will be ABD can also apply. The faculty member, in this 10-month tenure-track position, will teach courses in finance and financial economics. The Department of Economics & Finance offers academic programs of study including a BS in Finance, a Minor in Finance and a Concentration in Financial Economics for the BS in Economics.

Job Summary

Faculty at Georgia College & State University are teacher-scholars and engaged university citizens. Faculty are also expected to develop and demonstrate knowledge of current philosophies, practices, and theories related to the academic discipline.
The faculty member in this 10-month tenure-track position will teach courses in finance and financial economics. The typical teaching load per semester is two sections of Business Finance and one section of an upper-level finance course. The Department of Economics & Finance offers academic programs of study including a BS in Finance, a Minor in Finance, and a Concentration in Financial Economics for the BS in Economics.

Responsibilities

Research -

Faculty must conduct research and develop within the profession including peer-reviewed scholarly publications, presentations at academic/professional meetings, and engage in other scholarly activities to continually meet our faculty qualifications policy.

Service -
All faculty are expected to support the advancement of our mission by providing high quality service at the department, college, university, community, and disciplinary level.

Teaching -
Teaching Responsibilities

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
Qualified candidates for the tenure-track position must have, or soon have, a terminal degree in Finance or Economics and be a teacher-scholar committed to the public liberal arts. Doctoral student applicants in an All-but-Dissertation (ABD) status will be considered. The candidate must have at least 18 credit hours in Finance at the graduate level.
Other Required Qualifications
All Georgia College faculty share the responsibility of teaching our core university and college curricula and providing foundation courses for majors and non-majors alike. To carry out our public liberal arts mission, we seek faculty with the desire and ability to engage students as they launch their intellectual journey.

Must meet SACSCOC accreditation requirements stated in C.S. 3.7.1(www.sacscoc.org (faculty credentials))

Preferred Experience
Hiring preference will be given to faculty who demonstrate an understanding of Georgia College & State University's mission and who are enthusiastic about working closely with high-achieving students within an academic community dedicated to the advancement of knowledge through learning and scholarship.

Teaching experience is also preferred.
