George T. Sanders Company and affiliated property management entities (“GTS”) are a family owned group of companies that own and operate plumbing and heating supply warehouses throughout Colorado and Wyoming. Established in 1950, GTS is Colorado’s largest independent distributor of plumbing and heating supplies.

The Senior Accountant position is a role that will be responsible for a variety of accounting, tax, and finance related issues. The successful candidate will be an organized self-starter with developed problem solving skills.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Perform daily bank reconciliations.

Oversee accounting records for affiliated property management entities.

Maintain company budget / forecast in Excel.

Participate in presentation of financials to executive management.

Calculate and book monthly sales tax journal entries.

Maintain fixed asset records in the company’s fixed asset software (Sage).

Coordinate annual income tax schedules for external tax return preparers.

Coordinate the annual property tax filing process.

Ad hoc responsibilities as necessary.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Participate in monthly close process, including recurring journal entries and reconciliations.

Handle IRS, State of Colorado, and local government correspondence as appropriate.

Coordinate sales tax audit documentation as required.

Maintain the payroll tax accrual spreadsheet.

Stay current on accounting and tax developments.

Requirements

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS

CPA license or advanced degree in accounting preferred.

Intermediate level expertise in Excel or above.

Experience with sales tax in Colorado preferred.
