Geo-Technology Associates, Inc. is Hiring a Geotechnical Engineer Near Laurel, MD

GTA's office in Laurel, Maryland is currently seeking staff to project-level Geotechnical Engineers (1-8 years of experience). Entry level candidates should have experience in field work related to construction materials observation and testing. More experienced candidates will help manage our more complicated projects and have experience in proposal preparation, geotechnical explorations, report preparation, drafting, and geotechnical analyses.

Other responsibilities for this position are as follows:

  • Subsurface investigations including test borings, cone penetration testing, and test pits, reviewing exploration logs, lab results, and plans.
  • Analysis of bearing capacity, settlement, earth pressures, pavement section design, and slope stability.
  • Analysis, recommendations and design of intermediate to deep foundations and ground improvement for structural support.
  • Analysis and design of temporary and permanent earth retention systems.
  • Forensic investigation and failure analysis.
  • Computer Aided Drafting and Design.
  • Preparation of geotechnical and stormwater infiltration reports.
  • Preparation of temporary and permanent earth retention design plans and submittals.
  • Business Development.

Candidates should be prepared for professional growth into such areas as retaining wall design, slope stability analysis, temporary/permanent excavation support design, review of subsurface conditions and foundation design, project management, training of junior staff, and business development at external events. This is an excellent opportunity to work with experienced engineering and business leaders, perform work on wide variety of projects, and develop advanced technical and business skills.

Requirements:

  • BS Degree in civil engineering required. Geotechnical concentration a plus
  • Passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam and able to take the PE exam; PE preferred for experienced candidates
  • MS Degree in geotechnical engineering preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal skills
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • CADD experience.
  • Experience with geotechnical design and analysis software
