About the PositionThe Department of Public Works has an immediate opening for a Supervising Engineer (Engineer IV) within the Department's Water Utilities Division. Supervising Engineer assignment will involve managing water supplies in coordination with stakeholders to identify opportunities, develop and implement water supply transfers as needed to maximize the beneficial use of available water resources from the District's wholesale water systems. The Water Utilities Division operates and oversees the District's Nacimiento Water Project and State Water Project wholesale water systems.The goal of the program is to store and/or put to beneficial use all the water available and recover the costs of maintaining the water supply allocation to the fullest extent possible every year. The program is also needed to identify and facilitate emergency exchanges of water and other resiliency measures. Supervising Engineer will provide ongoing strategic and technical leadership and engagement in developing and implementing the water management supply program and partnerships. Work efforts will include engineering feasibility analysis, financial analysis, negotiations, public engagement, contract development and administration. This position requires Registration as a Civil Engineer in California.The Supervising Engineer position is the highest level in the professional engineering series at the County Public Works Department and plays a critical role in leading both the Water Utilities Division and the Department.
