OVERVIEW

The Fruit by the Foot (FxF) System Engineer is an exciting and high visibility new role as a part of Project Panther. This is part of the largest capital investment in General Mills history, with the FxF system intended to start up in Summer of 2024. Fruit, and FxF in particular, is on a tremendous growth trajectory.

During the first year of this role, significant travel be required to Cedar Rapids and other locations to learn the equipment, build training material, and help to prepare for a vertical startup.

Relocation to the Geneva, IL area will be required. Timing is flexible, prior to November 2023.

Prior to startup the SE will be a key technical resource for the design of the system, training of the new staff, and development of plant processes to support startup.

Post startup, the FxF System Engineer will partner with the line team and provide technical leadership in the areas of human safety, food safety, and system performance for the Fruit department at the Geneva, IL facility.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

The FxF System Engineer will be responsible for the following:

• Human and Food Safety

• Understand and provide expertise for human and food safety systems as they apply to cereal processing systems

• Technical Knowledge and Leadership

• Apply technical knowledge and leadership to solve problems and drive improvements on process and packaging systems
• Own the operation and improvement to the robotic bulk handling systems and palletizing systems

• Productivity/HMM

• Identify and implement HMM solutions to drive to Zero Loss. Partner with R&D, Quality, Operations, and Engineering/Maintenance to drive system improvements

• Product and Technology Commercialization

• Partner with R&D and project teams on tests, trials, and new products

• Future State Strategy

• Develop strategies for strategic improvements that are aligned with business needs on the packaging systems

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or related degree with applicable experience or extensive relevant work experience

• 5 - 7 years related work experience in technical roles within a manufacturing environment
• Demonstrated technical leadership, problem-solving, decision making, trouble-shooting, communications, and interpersonal skills
• Demonstrates ability to coach and build capability in line teams and operators/mechanics
• Demonstrates ability to work with and influence diverse groups at various levels and across functions
• Strong ability to involve operators and mechanics in the project process
• Must have a good understanding of packaging and processing systems along with working knowledge of plant manufacturing, engineering, quality, and research functions
• Good understanding of Zero Loss Culture principles

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Engineering degree 
• Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering degrees 
• Previous experience as part of a platform team
• Previous experience with Fruit systems
